The brunette glared at Tony as he was pacing the lab. She shook her head and then looked to Bruce. "Why would you guys create artificial intelligence? Haven't you seen all the movies about how it usually takes over the world?" She asked angrily, gripping at her hair while Bruce rolled his eyes.
"Ultron was meant to be protection for the world." He told her, the girl stopping her movements and glaring over the man who turns into a beast.
"Protection? That's you guys!" She yelled at them rolling her eyes. "The avengers are meant to be the heroes for the world." She told him as Tony stepped in.
"Yeah, what if Thanos was to come?" He asked, the girl stopping and furrowing her eyebrows.
"Thanos?" She asked, not knowing who this person is.
"Esmeralda talked about him. He was the one who helped Loki invade Earth." Steve said, stepping into the lab.
Samantha stopped, taking a moment to realize that Tony was just trying to save the entire planet for whenever Thanos came. It just wasn't a good plan because now a robot was trying to destroy them. She rubbed her forehead while looking to Tony. "Just fix it." She muttered, crossing her arms over her chest.
"All our work is gone. Ultron cleared out. He used the Internet as an escape hatch." Bruce told everyone.
"Ultron." Steve muttered, looking to Samantha who was still angered by the two scientists.
"He's been in everything. Files, surveillance. Probably knows more about us than we know about each other." Natasha told them, leaning against the desk.
"He's in your files, he's in the Internet. What if he decides to access something a little more exciting?" Rhodey asked, holding his arm for support.
"Nuclear codes." Maria told them.
"Nuclear codes." Rhodey agreed. "Look, we need to make some calls, assuming we still can."
"Nukes? He said he wanted us dead." Natasha told Rhodey.
"He didn't say 'dead.' He said 'extinct.'" Steve reminded them.
"He also said he killed somebody." Clint told them, looking down from the top aisle.
"There wasn't anyone else in the building." Maria told him.
"Yes, there was." Tony said, showing the group Jarvis' destroyed program.
"What? This is insane." Bruce told Tony, looking over the structure of the hologram.
"Jarvis was the first line of defense. He would have shut Ultron down. It makes sense." Steve stated.
"No. Ultron could have assimilated Jarvis. This isn't strategy. This is rage." Bruce told the team.
Thor has decided to walk in, his anger taking play as he grabbed Tony's neck. "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!" Steve warned the God.
"It's going around." Clint teased, watching the interaction.
"Come on, use your words, buddy." Tony gasped out.
"I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark." Thor said with a clenched jaw.
"Thor. The Legionnaire." Steve reminded the man. He set Tony down, the man groaning as he backed away.
"Trail went cold about one hundred miles out, but it's headed north. And it had the scepter. Now we have to retrieve it, again." Thor told the team, Samantha sighing.
"There's no way I'm doing that." She muttered, Steve grabbing her arm to stop her.
"Genie's out of that bottle. Clear and present is Ultron." Natasha stated.
"I don't understand. You built this program. Why is he trying to kill us?" Dr. Cho asked, making Tony chuckle.
Everyone looked at him while Bruce shook his head to stop him. "You think this is funny?" Thor asked angrily.
"No. It's probably not, right? This is very terrible. Is it so..." he paused, laughing slightly. "Is it so..." he asked again. "It is. It's so terrible." He said with a smile.
"This could have been avoided if you haven't played with something you don't understand." Thor told him.
"No. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It is funny. It's a hoot that you don't get why we need this." Tony started his rant.
"Tony, maybe this might not be the time." Bruce tried to add in.
"Really? That's it? You just roll over, show your belly every time somebody snarls?" Tony asked.
"Only when I've created a murder bot." Bruce told him.
"We didn't. We weren't even close. Were we close to an interface?" Tony asked angrily.
"Well, you did something right. And you did it right here. The Avengers were supposed to be different than SHIELD." Steve told the man while Samantha shook her head.
"Do you not understand that you're in the wrong, Tony?" She asked him.
"Anybody remember when I carried a nuke through a wormhole?" Tony asked.
"No, it's never come up." Rhodey asked sarcastically.
"Saved New York?" He kept asking.
"Never heard that." Rhodey kept his input.
"Recall that? A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. We're standing three hundred feet below it. We're the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the libeling day, but that up there, that's..." he paused while pointing his finger up towards the ceiling and sucking in his lips. "That's the endgame. How were you guys planning on beating that?" Tony asked, Steve looking him dead in the eyes.
"Together." He stated.
"We'll lose." He reminded the captain.
"Then we'll do that together, too. Thor's right. Ultron's calling us out. And I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world's a big place. Let's start making it smaller." Steve told them, Samantha nodding her head and taking his hand into her own.
"I'll be with you every step of the way." She told him, the man smiling lightly at her, a blush coating his cheeks.
