Friends

Daring POV

I was waiting in my dorm for Apple, until I got a text from her. It said:

OMG I'm so sorry my prince, but we have to reschedule. Briar got hurt skydiving!

I have never been so relieved for someone getting hurt. I had some time to kill, so I went back to the pool, where the party was hosted. I thought everyone would have left by then, so I could have the whole thing to myself. When I got there, I saw Rosabella. She was dipping her feet in the pool by the deep end. She was still in that gorgeous bikini, that I couldn't help but stare at. I was snapped back into reality when I heard, " Daring?"

" Uh hi", I said. Seriously that's the best I could come up with? Why am I always so nervous around her?

" What are you doing here?"

"I was just going to take an evening swim? Want to join?" To my surprise, she actually said yes.

She dived in, and asked, " What are you waiting for?" I bit my lip, and got onto the diving board. I did a triple back flip into the pool. I wanted to impress her, which I think I accomplished because when I lifted my head out from the water she looked stunned. There was an awkward silence that lingered for a bit.

I decided to break the ice by saying, " So about that kiss.. or not kiss... I'm sorry." Why did I have to break the ice with that? It got even more awkward.

" Let's just forget about it and go back to being just friends." Those words stung. Mainly one word- friends. I wanted to be more than that. I nodded to pretend I agreed. 

Rosabella POV

It was agreed upon. Daring and I would just be friends. It makes me sad that that's the only thing we can ever be, but it's for the best. I then splashed him playfully, which made him grin. I loved that grin. He splashed me back, but with more force. The splash soaked my hair. I had to get him back for that! I then placed my feet, just above the water, and began to kick. Water splashed him constantly. He went under water, until the point I couldn't see him anymore. I looked around the pool, until I felt two hands touching my thighs. I was hoisted up, onto Daring. My legs, wrapped around his waist, and we were face to face.

" Good luck splashing me like this", he said. I couldn't help but blush because of our position. I broke eye contact, and looked down, only to see his well defined abs. He then placed his finger, underneath my chin, and lifted my chin up, so I would face him once again.

He whispered in my ear in a husky voice, " I'm glad we are talking again." His breath so close to me, sent shivers down my spine. His voice almost made me breathless. I started stroking his hair will my thumb and index finger. I tried to let out words , but I couldn't. I was paralyzed and lost in his blue eyes. I wanted to kiss him, then in there, and I was about to. I felt myself leaning in, and I think Daring could feel it too. He looked up and down at my lips, as if asking for permission to kiss me.

 As our lips were just about to touch, a voice exclaimed, " What are you guys doing?" It was Meeshell Mermaid. Daring and I quickly pulled away from each other. 

I yelled, " Nothing! Sorry for ruining your swim schedule. I was just leaving." I quickly jumped out of the pool, wrapped my towel around me, and sprinted to my dorm. When I got there, I hopped in the shower, trying to cleanse myself of what just happened.
