My eyes fluttered open, looking to my left I saw Steve. I felt a wave of comfort. I reached over, touching him. He stirred in his sleep, waking with a smile on his face.
"Good morning," I said, kissing him sweetly.
"Morning," he muttered, against my lips. His own smile across his face.
"I don't think we've ever had an easy morning like this," Steve told me.
I leaned back int my pillow. Whatever anxiety and worry I had been having, evaporated. Everything felt at peace.
"I think it's well deserved, don't you?" I questioned, letting him wrap his arms around me.
"I'd say saving the world deserves one morning off."
"I'm glad we sorted everything out. I hate when we fight."
"Me too. It doesn't matter anymore, we made it through the fire," he explained, kissing my forehead.
I giggled at this, looking out the window. Outside seemed to have a shiny white glow, almost too perfect.
My eyebrows scrunched together, the sun wasn't out, yet it was so bright.
"Steve- are you seeing this?"
I moved, getting out of bed.
I let out a scream, looking down I saw both my arms. Not my metal one, not the huge gaping absence I had grown use to.
"What the hell?"
"Mo, are you okay?" Steve asked, rushing out of bed.
"Look?!" I exclaimed, thrusting out both arms.
"You don't know?"
"Know what?"
"We're dead."
