The armies collided. The battle cries echoed in the ears of the Rodríguez girl. Sweat was flowing on her neck, and she gripped her sword so tight that her knuckles turned white. She kicked an ogre in the head on horseback, trying to keep her balance at the same time, while swinging her weapon hither and thither. She was fighting with all she had. She lost a couple of swords, but the necklace didn't seem to run out of weapons.
"Ew," she grimaced when something jumped on her and levelled her to the ground, and as she turned around, a creature with sharp teeth and tiny eyes was looking down at her. The skin of it looked like it was almost too slimy to stay together. "You should brush your teeth more often, dearie," she joked, squeezing a stick between the creature and her before it could bite her face off.
She stabbed the creature's arm and was able to roll away from under it. She grabbed a smaller rock next to her and jabbed it into the monster's neck. Suddenly, she found herself on the ground again when a white tiger of the White Witch's army sent her to grass. She lost grip of her sword and kicked the tiger's leg when it tried to hurt her. Suddenly, the animal's body disappeared from above hers.
"I told you to be careful."
She glanced at her saviour and accepted the outstretched hand which pulled her up to her feet. "Thank you, Peter."
That was all they could say to each other before continuing fighting. The boy got attacked by a hag, and the girl tried to overpower a wolf. It growled at her without stopping, attempting to tear her to pieces. They stood back to back, dodging attacks and returning them, switching places time and again.
"I guess we're even," Ellie commented after she pulled Peter away from the claws of a creature, earning a grateful smile.
They were separated after that, both losing sight of the other. The girl was fighting with a huge creature that reminded her of a mix between a wolf and a bear. She jumped around it, hitting its body parts with her sword again and again, using its slowness to her advantage. The creature was roaring in rage but was knocked out by the girl's sword that collided with the back of its head. To make sure it wouldn't do harm, she stabbed its leg, leaving the sword in it.
"Fall back! Draw them to the rocks!" Ellie heard Peter shout so she started running back to the rocks behind them, knocking out some enemies. She suddenly saw Peter fall off from his unicorn and ran to him. She helped him up, and noticing the painful frown on his face, she was sure the fall injured his arm.
Something caught their attention. "Stop!" They both shouted as Oreius and a rhino charged towards the witch. The witch blocked the centaur's attack, and the two humans watched with their eyes open as she turned him into a stone after spinning her wand. As his body fell and broke into a million pieces, the girl felt a tear begging to come out of her eye.
