The next day Rick refused to eat lunch with the rest of the family and decided to sit on the couch and watch interdimentional cable instead.

After they ate, Morty came into the living room and sat on the couch next to him. "You better not be going on that date, Rick."

"He is!" Beth yelled from the kitchen.

"Rick!" Morty barked.

"I wasn't going to, but your mom fucking took my phone and called her so I had no choice!"

"Woah, woah, woah, hold up." Jerry walked into the room, "Did I just hear that Rick is going on a date?"

"Yeah, dipshit. We were talking about it yesterday, but you weren't fucking listening, were you?" Rick held back his anger.

"You're really going, huh?" Summer also joined in.

"Yes." Rick said

"What are you gonna wear?" she stood in front of him, blocking his view of the TV.

"This, I guess?" he pointed to his normal, everyday clothes. "Now move, I can't see!"

"Those old rags? No way in hell."

"Wh- what's wrong with it?"

"You look like a circus clown and not a proper gentleman!"

"Proper gentleman? Gross."

"Summer? What are you doing?!" Morty raged.

"I talked to mom and I agree with her. He should be happy if he can and Y/N is a good person." She grabbed Ricks arm and pulled him upstairs. They entered his room and Summer started rummaging through his clothes.

"Summer, can you not?"

"Look at this suit!" she placed some clothes on the bed, "Why don't you ever wear it?"

"I look like the fucking Bachelor." he cringed.

"That's what we want!" Summer beamed, "Now put it on and come down stairs." She left the room.

After a few minutes Rick came down and into the living room, looking just slightly annoyed and uncomfortable in his shiny navy blue suit with black button-up shirt.

"Looking good, grandpa." Summer complimented.

"Dad, you look lovely." Beth added.

"Thanks..." His confidence was back.

With the time closing in on 7 o'clock Rick was getting slightly nervous, his hands were getting shaky and his heart was beating faster. With his final goodbyes to the family he opened a portal and walked through. He found himself in front of a small-ish restaurant. It had big glass windows and an upstairs porch. The inside looked very welcoming and warm, with some vintage and wooden decorations. Walking up to the front desk he got a table at the porch and told the guy to direct you there when you come inside the restaurant. He sat down for a few minutes while he waited for you, spending every second thinking about conversation topics and making sure his suit and hair look good.

"Hi! Sorry I'm late!" You sat down.

"Hello...You look beautiful..." He spoke softly.

"Thank you, you are quite handsome yourself." You smiled, then touched the flowers that were placed on the table, "Oh, I love these! I have a little garden of my own, I even though about making a little garden in the school yard so the kids can go outside more and be in the nature instead of sitting at their desks all day."

"What's the hold back?"

"Students need to learn economics, not botanics!" you mocked the voice of the school administrator.

"School is stupid anyway." Rick stated, but you raised an eyebrow at him, "Uhh, I mean... the school curriculum and education system..."

"Your appetizers." The waiter placed a few small plates on the table.

The two of you ordered your meals and spent the rest of the time just comfortably talking, Rick's nervousness quickly fading away. Time flew by as the two of you talked about your life, where you grew up, why you moved here, how you became a teacher. Then he talked a bit about himself, his family, but never really said anything about his past.
