Sally Pov:

I arrive back in Liskeard.

My mum said she will be waiting for me in the cafe.

I walk up and into the Cafe. My mum isn't there, but Lucy and Maddy are.

Maddy spots me and hits Lucy, bringing her to attention.

Lucy jumps out of her seat and runs over to me, Maddy closely behind.

Lucy doesn't say anything, just throws her arms round me.

I try not to cry, but fail.

She lets go and Maddy embraces me.

I wipe my face.

"What are you guys doing here?" I ask.

"We're staying yours, come on, your mum is waiting in the carpark." Lucy says.

"Oh okay." I say and follow them to the car.

Maddy and Lucy sit in the back, I am in the front.

"Who broke it off?" My mum asks carefully.

"Ansel, sort of." I say looking out the window.

"Really?" Lucy asks. "I thought you went up there to break up with him?"

"Well yeah. But obviously he had been having the same kinda thoughts." I explain.

"Oh." I hear Lucy say.

I turn on the radio.

'Not about angels' is playing.

I immediately turn it off.

I don't want to think about anything to do with Ansel. Not really.

We drive down the bumpy lane towards my house in silence.

I get out the car and walk into my house. I head straight for my bedroom forgetting about my friends.

They open my bedroom door and walk in, sitting on my sofa.

"You need cheering up." Maddy says.

There are two types of sadness:

1.The sadness where you actually want it to go away so you watch friends and listen to happy music.

2.The type where you sit in the dark alone, listening to sad songs and thinking about how really crap your life is and how much you hate yourself.

I'm the second one right now. But I can't be with Maddy and Lucy here.

"You are pathetic." Lucy says.

I glare at her.

She holds her hands up, "So you've had your first serious break up. I get it. You are sad. I get it. But how are you gonna be able to get over other breakups if you just sit staring at walls. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Get over it."

It was harsh but it actually helped.

I nod.

"I'll go get the sweets." Lucy says and runs down stairs.

"Sorry that was a bit mean of Lucy." Maddy says.

"No it's okay. She's an idiot but It helped." I say.

Maddy smiles.

"Who's an idiot?" Lucy asks walking back into the room.

"No one." Maddy says.

"Okay." She says sitting down with three carrier bags.

"That's all sweets?!" I ask.

Lucy and Maddy nod excitedly.
