Flashback to when y/n was 16, yes this is a prequel arc.

The day had started out normally with me going to school and then home. As I was walking home night began to fall and I heard a noise from an alleyway. The order said to report all disturbances to the authorities in case a monster got through the security. They weren't afraid of most monsters, just the ones who could pass for human or fly. In fact, kobold monsters were tolerated but strays could easily be picked up by a breeder who didn't see them as a sentient creature. Almost every organization hates this practice but nothing can be done as the laws against monsters takes away their rights. Then again, they took lives, family, and plenty of other things. The order protected us, led us, and taught us. Mankind would've been another lost race if they hadn't saved us.

As I walked deeper into the alleyway I heard movement to my left and turned. I pulled out my phone and turned on the flashlight function and my light shown directly on an Anubis who was curled up and shaking.

???: P-Please don't hurt me!

I didn't know what to do, an Anubis this far away from anything resembling a desert was downright scary because that could mean monsters were on the move. Out of a list of things to report this one was in bold red and triple underlined.

Y/N: How many of you are there?!

???: Everyone else is dead! I'm alone!

Hearing this girl cry was painful but I couldn't take her home, could I? Kobolds had a chance to look like any beastman within reason, but none of them had the individual personality of an Anubis. I silently thanked the gods that she was a beastman because what I said next would most likely change my life forever.

Y/N: I won't report you, I'll take you to my home as long as you keep your head down.

The Anubis girl look up at me and sniffled.

???: r-really?

I nodded. The girl tried to stand up but stumbled and I had to lean her on me to keep her from falling. I felt her large paws on my shoulders and noticed the amount of blood on her body. Under a normal circumstance I would've screamed, however I noticed her wounds and concluded that something had attack her. I could feel skin under her fur and found it to be cold and dry. I lifted the girl up and found that she was lighter than I originally anticipated.
As I carried her towards my house I began to explain to her how she could get out of being noticed by acting like a kobold. At first the girl seemed against the idea but after some urging I got through to her. When we were about a block from my house I heard someone shout my name.

M/N: where the hell have you been mister?! It is five minutes to midnight and you have work and school tomorrow!

Y/N: M-mom I got sidetracked on the way home, a group of monster hating extremists were attacking this kobold for looking like another monster.

M/N: and you should've let them finish her off, you know how I hate all types of monsters and think that they should be eradicated as a species!

The Anubis whimpered.

Y/N: even the order allows kobolds into our society, she won't turn into a succubus and take me away, hell you might actually like that!

M/N: what did you say to me?!

Y/N: you changed after dad disappeared and at first I thought it was from sadness, but in reality you haven't worked ever since the compensation started to come in!

M/N: if you put the kobold down I might consider not finishing her off myself after I deal with you, you little shit!

Y/N: you stay away from both of us!
