Third person POV present day...

A woman in light armor walked through the mud and blood in search of something. What this something was, she didn't know.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a soldier and readied her weapon. The soldier didn't attack and she made the first move. The whip hit something that was harder than she had originally anticipated which knocked her off balance. She looked up to see that there was now a lamia wrapped around the soldier. The dark elf had hit the soldier's visor and through the broken glass she felt as demon and light magic radiated off of the human. This was who she was looking for, but she would have to reveal herself later. This would be the best course of action.

Y/N's POV

I took of the helmet and rubbed the blood that had stuck one of my eyelids closed.
"Are you alright?! That attack broke through the scales that it hit, I can only imagine what it would've done to your skin. I-" Isabel began.
"Izzy, I'm fine." I said reassuringly.
The lamia repositioned herself and began to run her fingers over my face. I heard her whimper as she picked off small shards.
"I wish that the order fitted all of their troops with tech infused tempered glass instead of the fifty fifty crap they give their other soldiers."
"At least this way we can tell the difference between veterans and recruits. We know who to target, and who to try and bring over to our side." I said.
Isabel let out a yelp and I saw blood drip from her finger. She switched hands.
"Izz, stop, you're hurting yourself." I hissed.
"I'm almost done, you're lucky I decided to come with you."
I sighed. "I admit, with monsters on patrol this wasn't the best idea, but to be fair, that elf wasn't in any of our squads, and she seemed... different."
"What do you mean by different?" Isabel asked.
"Her weapons aren't made using demon realm metal yet I could sense that they had the potential to switch between basic metal properties and demon realm ones." I said.
"Maybe we'll see her again, you seem to have a masochistic streak going." Isabel teased.
"That was Sarah's doing, I would kill at this point to have a holstaur, Eve's nice, but at least I can hug a holstaur without losing the feeling in my legs." I replied.
I began to walk back to base with Isabel at my side. There was an explosion to and I realized I was on the ground. I got up and summoned a weapon, I couldn't find that source of the explosion but I saw the battered body of Isabel. Anger coursed through my veins as I saw a soldier make his way towards her. I ran and slashed. My speed and vigor was matched and I found myself fighting someone who seemed to know every move before I made it. I heard more soldiers approaching and the sounds of weapons being readied echoed through the area. This... this was a bad situation.
Sarah's point of view...
I ran could sense the conflict, I felt what Y/N felt. He was my chosen and we were connected and I knew that he was in danger. I ran out of the base and to where he was. A few other monsters followed and his father jumped from rooftop to rooftop with his rifle at the ready. A barrier seemed to form as the soldiers charged around Y/N as he dueled with a soldier who clearly wasn't human. The battlefield was a narrow area that went straight before turning right on one end and left on the other. There was no exists unless thee alleys led somewhere. This was one long hallway of city and we clashed in the center of it.
As I took down the first soldier I noticed Isabel and motioned that she was there. Two harpies swooped down and carried her back to the base. The warden fired from the rooftop with deadly precision, two soldiers caught wind of him and just as they turned he fired twice and they fell dead faster than the sound of the gun could be heard.
I fought towards the center and found that Y/N was fighting desperately, he was tiring yet his attacked was keeping pace. I was almost to him, if I extended my arm I could pull him out of the way and take on his attacker, together we should be able to win this battle.
I heard a clang as metal struck metal with more force than the other could withstand. The weapon hit the ground and vanished, the other weapon made contact and Y/N kneeled on the ground. I was paralyzed, I tried to scream but my throat was shut, I tried to move but my body failed me.
The weapon was thrusted into Y/N who extended his arm and shot a beam of raw spirit energy. I heard three gunshots from the roof. The first knocked off the attacker's helmet and the second and third sunk into their armor. For a second there was silence. The monsters tried to comprehend that their strongest soldier just took a fatal blow, and the order tried to comprehend that their leader had also been given the same treatment. I ran towards Y/N as he fell backwards. I watched as the warden jumped from the roof and landed on his feet.
He walked towards the order's leader and ripped his mask off. She crawled backwards but he quickly stomped down on her.
"You took my wife." He kicked her again. "You took my granddaughter before she was even born." He kicked her again. "And now you're takin my son!" He pulled out a sidearm and aimed it at her head. "This is for them, my brother, and everyone else that you've killed."
The gunshot echoed for countless miles, this would not kill the order, but it was wounded.
I looked down and Y/N had a distant stare that I looked into, I saw his eyes, the orbs that no longer held light. He looked tired as he shut his eyes, like he was just sleeping. I cradled his head and squeezed his hand. And just like that, another part of my soul broke as he was forced from this realm.

Third person point of view...

At the end of the battle, the order retreated to the heart of the city, their defenses at the ready, preparing for a final charge that would wipe them out and set the tone for the rest of this brutal war. For Sarah, it was the end of hers, she slipped away when no one was looking, not even her sisters were able to track her down. The remaining monsters prepared to attack, vengeance would come for those who didn't surrender, and those who did would be spared, it was what this battle was for after all.

Y/N's point of view...

I felt something nudging my side.
"Wake the fuck up!" Shouted a feminine voice.
I groaned and opened my eyes to see an echidna who seemed to be radiating more demonic energy than Sarah or any of her two sisters.
"Get the fuck up, chosen. We have an order to destroy."
