I was late getting into the club, because Mum was working so I had to clear up after dinner. Sky looked beautiful, her light hair swept into a messy plait. She stood at the bar sipping most likely tonic water with her friend Rosa. Rosa looked almost surprised when I walked in. I ignored it, and made my way over to Joe who was doing sound checks.
"Dyl, you sure you want to be here? It's not really your scene, is it? Why don't you go to the library or someplace?" Joe said. Keith, one of his band mates, sniggered and patted Joe on the back.
"Original. Look, I have to talk to you."
"Dylan, I'm a little busy here. I doing this thing called having a life." He said, tapping the microphone.
"All I'm going to say is don't go crazy. There's going to be a load of people here. The police said you were on warning, Joe." I told him.
"Fine, whatever. I won't drink till the sets done." I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Give it a rest Dyl, yeah? I'm nearly an adult. You're just a sad little kid with nothing better to do than annoy me." He went back to his spot checks, and I sat alone, wondering how Sky couldn't see past Joe.
