He never meant to bother anyone. Especially on his first day at his new school. All he wanted to know was where the bathroom was.

He asked a guy he thought looked nice only to quickly find out that the "nice" guy wasn't very nice at all.  Troye sighs silently as he thankfully finds his second hour class before the bell rang.

He nervously walks in and prays for no seating chart. He finds a seat in the back and sits down, but holds his bag in his lap in case it was someone's seat.

The bell rings and the last few people file into the classroom followed by the teacher.

Troye pulls his cat-eared beanie down and hides his face behind his arms.

The teacher takes attendance and Troye silently groans as his name is called after everybody else's.  "Troye Sivan? Where's Troye?"

He feels eyes on him as everyone finally notices the tiny new kid in the corner.

"Ah, Troye!" the teacher-who he really needs to learn the name of-grins. "Why don't you come up and introduce yourself?"

He freezes. Speak? In front of the class? Was this guy crazy? How did he expect Troye to do that?

Hesitantly he slowly lowers his arms and lets out a quiet sigh. About to stand up, he feels his beanie get yanked off his head.

He gasps and looks at the guy who took it. He watches as the boy laughs and throws it to his friend next to him.

The class laughs as the teacher attempts to calm them and make the student give Troye his beanie back.

"G-g-giv-ive it b-b-back," Troye says, his nervous stutter coming out strong, clear within the students ears.  "G-g-give it b-b-b-back!" The student who took his beanie mocks with a laugh.

Troye feels tears prick his eyes in embarrassment, but he refuses to let them out. It was his first day, and in a situation like the one he's currently in, he couldn't cry, though it would certainly help with his stutter, so he forces himself to stay big. At least until after school.

He jumps at the new voice that suddenly rings through the room.  "Hey!"  The class immediately falls silent as a muscled guy stands up from his seat.

"God, you guys are more immature than my seven year old sister!" the teen shouts. "Where's his beanie?"

The guy that had Troye's beanie at the moment quickly throws it in the girls lap who was sitting next to him.

"Hey, don't pin it on me, you jerk!" She says. The black haired girl holds it out the black haired boy, "Here, Jacob."

Jacob carefully grabs the dark colored beanie from the female's hand, "Thank you."

Troye plays with the sleeves of his hoodie while he watches nervously as the guy makes his way over to him.

"Here, Troye," the guy-Jacob-says softly holding the beanie out to to him.  With a shaking hand, he grabs it, "Th-than-thank you."  "No problem," Jacob smiles before walking back to his seat.

Troye sits down again, deciding to not go up and introduce himself. He watches as the teacher kicks the boy, who took Troye's beanie first, out of the room.

The class carries on, nobody speaking again about the incident other than the teacher sending a quick apology to Troye.

Throughout the hour, Troye could feel a pair of eyes on him. Too insecure to look around the classroom, he stays quiet and listens to the teacher's-who he found out was called Mr. McKinnon lecture on natural selection vs. artificial selection.

The bell finally rings, and Troye stays back in order to ask the teacher-instead of a student-with help on finding his next class.

Pulling his bag over his shoulder, Troye walks to Mr. McKinnon's desk, "Um, M-Mr. M-m-mc-"  The dark haired man looks up at Troye, "That's okay, Troye. Call me Mr. M."

Troye nods, his face flushing in embarrassment, "C-could-could you may-maybe help me f-f-find m-my next cla-class?"  "How about Jacob shows you? I'm sure he would love to, and it'll give you some time to make a friend?"

Troye's mouth opens to say something, but he's cut off by the familiar voice from earlier, "I'd love to show him around!"

Troye turns to see Jacob standing next to the board, having not noticed him still in the room before. He turns back to his teacher to protest, but is, again, interrupted.

"Great! I'll see you two tomorrow," Mr. McKinnon states before turning back to the work on his desk.

Troye stays put for a moment in shock, until he hears Jacob's voice again.

"What's your next class?"  Troye feels his schedule carefully being slid out of his right hand.  "Yes, best class of the day! Lunch!"

Troye looks at Jacob who smiles at him and gestures toward the classroom door, "After you."  Troye sighs and walks toward the exit of the room.

Jacob follows him and instantly tries to strike up a conversation with the feminine boy.

"How are you liking school so far?"  Troye shrugs.  "It's school," Jacob laughs. "Not a very exciting conversation topic, is it? What about the town?"  Another shrug.

"Are you new to LA? Or just the school district?"  Troye stays silent, not even a shrug.  "You don't talk much," Jacob chuckles.  Troye looks down at his light blue converse.

"I'm sorry," Jacob says, his smile dropping off his face. "I didn't mean that in a bad way. I'm just-I have loud friends, so I'm use to someone always talking around me."  "It's okay," Troye mumbles.  Jacob bites his lip in thought,

"Would you like to meet them? We have an extra seat at our lunch table."  Troye stays silent as Jacob guides them around the corner to the cafeteria.

He freezes at the sight of all the students walking through.  He resists the urge to grab Jacob's hand out of fear, and nods, "Y-yes, please."  -  Once getting his lunch from his locker, Jacob guides Troye to the lunch table.

"Guys, this is Troye. He's new. He's gonna sit with us."  Troye gasps silently at the loud greetings he's met with after Jacob finishes talking.

Hesitantly, Troye sits down next to Jacob who scoots over to give him more room. Troye stays put on the edge of the bench.

He notices the same black haired girl from his second hour.  "Troye, that's Hari," Jacob explains pointing to the black  haired girl. "That's-"

"Hey! I'm Tyler! I like your beanie! It's nice to meet you!" a blue haired boy grins, holding his hand out for Troye to shake.

Scared by the hyper boy's large voice, Troye slowly reaches his hand out to shake the other's.  Tyler shakes his hand gently in surprise of his small hand, it being smaller than he'd thought.

Jacob takes note of his painted nails before letting everyone else introduce themselves.  Troye makes a mental note of everybody's names: Hari, Tyler, Connor, Adam, Jedediah, and Cory.

"I like your nails," Jacob informs Troye when everyone goes to their own conversations.  "Oh, th-thank you."  "Did you do them yourself?"

Troye blushes, because he had in fact done them himself. He nods after a moment.

"That's so cool! My sister always gets frustrated because she's right handed and she can never paint her right hand perfectly like her left hand," Jacob chuckles.

"It takes practice."
