Art class had been the best class of the day by a long shot. After art, Adelaide went to the last three classes, all of which had been uneventful. She walked to her locker as she recalled her conversations with Brodie.

"I'd be an air host desk if i wasn't so afraid of flying" Adelaide admitted. "Then I could take pictures of the sunset, draw the sky."
"Isn't it an air stewardess?" He asked.
"Oh well sorry I don't know the official term smart ass" she responded sarcastically. Both of them laughed until they couldn't breath. He was so easy to talk to.
"Why are you afraid of flying?"
"Because I might crash and die" Adelaide exclaimed.
"Wow that was dramatic"
"Well think about it your like, a thousand feet up in the air.."
"More probably" Brodie cut in.
"Yeh and your trapped in this metal container and you have no control!" She cried out.
"Oooo, someone's got control issues!"
"I most certainly do not!"

Adelaide smiled at how ridiculous their conversation was.

After she got all the books from her locker, Adelaide walked down the empty halls and sighed with relief as the pain in her head began to ease. Kellie and Alaya had left early and Adelaide started walking as quick as possible so she could leave school and go home. She was approaching the hall with the new lockers. Brodie's locker was down here. Her heart started beating a little faster, in an attempt to calm herself down she reminded herself that he probably left already and that she had already spoken to him so it wouldn't be awkward if he was there. As she walked through the halls, Adelaide couldn't help but quickly scan the area to see if he was there.

There he was, looking flustered and holding multiple books. She walked slower, his hair was messy and in fact, it was almost in his eyes. He slammed his locker which startled her, she was confused, he was in a good mood after lunch, what happened? She walked quicker now to not draw any attention to herself but suddenly heard a loud thud. Adelaide spun around and saw three or four books spread across the wide hallway and sheets of paper everywhere. Adelaide was going to keep walking as to not embarrass him but Brodie was alone looking frustrated and she couldn't help but go over.

Adelaide took her bag off her shoulders, placing it on the bench and bent down to start picking up the papers.
"Am I embarrassing him by helping" she thought, "Is this weird?... no, no he helped me when I needed help!"
She shuffled across the hallway picking up loose worksheets and books until a hand met hers. His hand. His hand was long and his knuckles were cut and bruised, something she hadn't noticed before. His veins stuck out of his hand and she couldn't help but grin at how good they looked. It was him, she'd have to look up now. Adelaide tilted her head back to look straight into his eyes and they both smiled. His eyes were so blue, they were deeper than the ocean. She picked up his book and used her free hand to push her hair behind her ears.
"Hey you, thanks for helping" he smiled softly.
"That's ok" she replied. Her voice was a bit shaky, she didn't know why he was so angry getting his books.
"You didn't have to pick up all my stuff" Brodie said with a smirk.
"No, that's ok don't worry. It's the least I could do." She muttered. "Have you got everything?" She asked handing the sheets back simultaneously.
"Yeh I think so, i had a stressful last class."
She looked down at his notes, chemistry notes.
"I bet" she laughed. He laughed too.

"Hey, um, I was thinking.." he paused. "I don't know too many people around here, so um, I guess what I wanted to ask, which I forgot to say earlier was, well." Adelaide's mind was racing. "What the hell is he trying to ask!" She thought.
"Do you want to grab a coffee sometime? Get to know each other more, I really enjoyed art class. I mean only if you want!?"
Adelaide's heart felt like it had leapt out of her chest and all of a sudden her headache came back. She stuttered, "was he asking me to go out with him? I mean it's just a coffee but..." she was conflicted. Frankly she was shocked he even bothered to ask.

"Um, yeh, that sounds good." She replied, instantly turning red from how cringe her reply was.
"Cool, maybe we could go on Sunday?" he said while giggling. She smirked and then looked to the ground, she could feel her face turning bright red.
"Yeh I'm free on Sunday"
They both looked down and smiled, Brodie bit the side of his lip and laughed quietly at how childish he was acting.
"I better go, good luck with all your books!" Adelaide said breaking the silence.
He tilted his head back laughing to show off his sharp jawline. She was only noticing now that he was clean shaven.
"Thanks, see you around?"

Adelaide didn't want to come across as too keen, how should she respond?
"Yeh.... maybe" She playfully responded with a smirk. She spun around on her heels and walked away.
"Don't look back, don't look back", she pleaded with myself. But she gave in, she turned around to see him looking at her walking away. He grinned. She kept walking.
