Log 17

{Olivia is walking down a hall} 1 month 2 weeks... oh gosh... seeing that it's only been a month and a half is... well... kinda scary... we still have such a long trip ahead of us... well I guess that just means we still have a lot of time to spend with everyone. {She says seemingly forcing herself to smile.}

Welp I wanted to make this log because in 5 days it's mine and Rebol's 1 month anniversary. I know his people probably don't celebrate such things, but I just wanted to get him a little something... So when I went to Jesgel to ask him what he thinks I should get Rebol, he told me that it would be better if I were to pick it out without help and that I could have the rest of the day off, which is why I'm making this log at like 12:00 instead of after dinner.

Most humans are off eating lunch and most Hilyoumjec aren't off work yet, so the market place isn't that crowded, which is why I'm going now. {Olivia giggles} Also fun fact, apparently this type of market place is extremely similar to a type of market place on Earth, called a bazaar... yeah... Justin always has the weirdest facts to give me {Olivia giggles again}

Oh! We're here! {Olivia turns the camera around and there is a huge room filled with rows upon rows of tents and stands} The nice thing is that this place has pretty much anything I could ever think of and more! {Olivia walks to one of the rows and starts walking down it at her normal pace. As she is walking down it, she notices that it's all food.} ...Guess this is one of the food rows... well... I haven't eaten lunch yet, so I'll get some "on the go" food.

... Hmmm... {She says as she scans the stall while continuing to walk.} Oh! That place looks good! {she walks up to a small stand that is selling proper Earth "on the go" food.} [Do you guys have kabobs?]

[Yep! What do you want on it? We have chicken, beef, fish and gooroman*, for meats and these are the vegetables.] {He points to a display of both Earth and Hiltuomjec vegetables... okay so maybe not 100% classic Earth food but still.} [as long as it fits on the stick, you can have it!]

[Okay, cool! I'll have beef, with onions, green and red peppers, and some nolamic root*, please!]

[Comin' right up!] {He makes it right in front of her with the flames going about a foot high and you can hear her stomach growl and almost smell the food. When he's done, he hands it to her,}

[here you go miss! Have a great day!]

[Thanks! You too!] {Olivia walks away and turns the camera back to her.} Oh! Right, I'm guessing you're thinking, "did she just steal that kabob?!" and on Earth, yeah walking away like that with out paying would have been stealing, but that is a "human concept." The Hilyuomjec just make and give, over time every one is even, as long as they are hard working and doing their best. Most people think it's a VERY wrong concept and that it's a child's way of thinking, but honestly it makes life easier and better. There is no more financial issues, no one goes hungry (as long as things are rationed out properly, like 1 kabob per person per day or something), and no one ends up stealing!

... well... okay... that's the concept, but humans and their greed makes things a million times harder! And he there are still several humans who own businesses here who requires money or something of equivalent exchange in order for you to get their products. But for the most part, the Hilyuomjec are the ones running things... for now...

Speaking of which, they are getting worse...more and more are getting sick, which means more humans are taking over their jobs... which really wouldn't be too bad, but as I said earlier, humans are greedy. We already had a case where a human had to take over the job of a Hilyuomjec as a seller at one of the tents here who made people start to "pay" for the products. Well since a Hilyuomjec started the business, when the Hilyuomjec security guards heard about it, the human was sent away, locked in his familial quarters and isn't able to come out till like next year.
