(Narrator POV)
The next day was the beginning of the town carnival and both friend groups were planning to go. Matter of fact, most people in town were planning to go.

Raven was sitting in homeroom when Murphy walked in. This was going to be more awkward than she thought considering they sat next to each other in homeroom and English and how he sat in front of her in math.

He sat down and turned partially toward her. "Look, I'm gonna try to make this as normal as possible and I know that I'm not supposed to be talking to you, but I have something that you asked for and I keep forgetting to give to you." He pulled a folder out of his bag and tugged a paper out of it.

He handed it to her to show a beautiful drawing of her.

"And before Wick even has a chance to say I'm stalking you or spying on you or some stupid crap, I can draw by memory and I used a picture of everyone at homecoming for the details I couldn't remember." He told her truthfully. "You can throw it away if you want. I just figured that since I agreed to draw it a long time ago, you may still want it."

Raven was in shock that he actually drew it and still gave it to her. Also, it was absolutely beautiful and she was in awe. She managed to say, " I would never throw it away. Thank you, I love it."

Murphy nodded in response and then Raven noticed his hand in a finger splint and wrist wrap thing. "What happened to your hand?" She couldn't help but ask worriedly.

Murphy turned to face straight ahead and smirked lightly. "I punched a wall instead of your boyfriend." He then fully grinned. "You're welcome."

Just when she was about to reply, the teacher walked in and homeroom started up.

(Later, at the carnival)
Murphy and his friends were headed into the carnival and despite being broke, they were gonna have a great time. Murphy stole a bit more of his mom's booze money than usual so everyone could have a great time no matter what.

Raven and her friends were also there. Wick wasn't there for a few reasons. One, none of Raven's friends wanted him there. Two, he was a total buzzkill at this stuff. Last but not least, he was beaten to a near pulp by Roan, who had informed Wick, who informed Raven that he 'did it because Murphy didn't want Raven to have any reason to hate him.'

Wick, of course said that he just thought Murphy was a coward, but Raven knew that wasn't the case. She had heard a lot of the other friend group's stories and there was never a time in them where Murphy backed down from a fight or missed an opportunity to punch someone in the face.

As Raven and her friends were walking, they saw the other group coming into the carnival. Raven and the others couldn't help but scan them. Everyone missed the rebels and it hurt just to see them.
