(aged up to 20's aka just graduated college, and "grad school")

i knock on my front door, a house i haven't been in for 9 months, away in california in film school.

i lived in an apartment in downtown la, with my fiancé, finn wolfhard.

yes, my parents knew that i was dating finn and it was serious, but we kept the engagement on the down low because of his fame.

my mother opened the door, and brought me into a huge hug.

"oh y/n! i've missed you so much" she let's go of me taking my hands, taking a good look at how much i've grown.

we walk into the house, and my dad walks down the stairs, "oh y/n! welcome home!" he exclaims walking down the steps, engulfing me in a tight hug.

"hi" i say into his shoulder as he lets me go.

"where's finn?" he asks me, not even asking how i am first.

"he'll be here for dinner, he's on his way here now" i say taking a seat on my couch, and saying hello to my dog.

"are you happy school is finally over?" my mom jokes, taking a seat on a chair in the living room near me.

"so happy, i can actually like do my job now" i laugh.

it's funny, you spend so much time learning useless shit in school, and then you spend the rest of your life probably doing none of the things you learned in 1st-12th grade. kinda sickening right?

"where is finn off to next for filming?" my dad questions.

he's always been concerned that finn's job would get in the way of our relationship, but it never has. and he adores finn so it all works out.

"he's actually going to be filming in la this summer, so that's nice" i smile.

my mom looked down at my hands that were petting my dog, and gasps.

shit mother fucker.

"y/n, is that... did he...you didn't tell us?!!" my mom blurted our all at once. continuously pointing at my large engagement ring.
