I was walking down the street and it was getting colder out. I started wearing more layers which is kind of hard to believe. After a little ways I saw my local park, the place where I've seen the most nature in a long time.
I turned into the entrance and started walking in. I don't really go here that often, and I don't really know why I felt so compelled to go in, but maybe it'll help me with my stress problem that doesn't seem to go away. Nature always seems to calm me down. I looked up to the sky and it seems to be getting dark. I'd assume it would be around 8 pm.
Eventually, a park bench came into view and I saw someone that had very familiar hair sitting on it. He snapped his head towards me and jumped up from the bench. "Babe! I've been waiting for you!" Did he just call me babe? Or did he say Gabe? Why was he waiting for me? My thoughts were interrupted by Sam hugging me and then kissing me on the lips. I was so shocked I froze at first. After a quick moment I melted into the kiss. It was slow and passionate. Sparks immediately flew. This feels so natural, like we belong together.
At that moment I sat up with a jolt and looked around my surroundings. I'm at my table in my apartment. I look down at my nearly completed project and then I look out the window. It's pitch black outside. I must've fallen asleep. I only had one light on right above the table so the rest of my apartment is dark too. I grabbed my phone on the table to check the time. It says Sunday 3:58 am.
I sat up fully as that dream played in my mind. It felt so real, I wasn't to sure before but know I really have a crush on this guy. Gee thanks brain for giving me these unnecessary emotions. I slowly stood up to go to bed, I can't believe I fell asleep on the table like that. I never do that.
I went to the bedroom to go to bed, not even bothering to pack up my project because I'll finish it tomorrow. I walk by my bathroom and I stop. I need to take a shower. I started the shower and discarded my clothes so I could get in. After I was done and dressed in pajamas, my phone chimed. It was a message from Sam.
"Hey are you awake? Its fine if you're not."
This must be serious if Sam is texting me at 4 in the morning. It's not like we're on the best friend level where you text your friend at 4 in the morning because you're just bored. I sat on my phone and started texting a reply.
"Yeah Sam I'm awake. Just burning the midnight oil, you know how it is. What's up?" I was about to set my phone on the bed when I my phone chimed. This man must type really fast.
"I've been stressing a lot. My father got really sick all of the sudden and the doctors don't think he's going to make it much longer. I really just needed to talk to someone and you were the first one I could think of. It's okay if this is bad timing and need to go to bed."
Wow that's terrible, and he trusts me this much to tell me something like this? We've only known each other for two days. I decide not to be pushy by asking invasive questions.
"That's so horrible! I'm so sorry Sam. Do the doctors know what it is? Sorry if that's to pushy, you don't have to answer if you don't want too."
I feel terrible, I can't imagine what it must feel like to loose a parent figure in your life. Granted, I've never known who my mother was. She walked out on my father and I along with the rest of my siblings when I was a child.
"Its okay, and the doctors say they've never seen anything like it. They say it's the effects of old age but he's not old enough to die of old age. His body is just shutting down."That's very strange indeed. Why would a body do that? That's definately not natural at all. One could say that's it's even supernatural.
"That definately is strange I've never heard anything quite like that before."
I really want to be there for Sam, despite knowing him for two days, I feel like I've been friends with him for all of my entire life, kind of like I was meant to know him.
"Yeah it is. Well I'm going to try to calm my mind and get some sleep. You really should too. Thank you so much for talking to be Gabriel. It really means a lot to me."
I actually am really tired and I didn't even realize it despite just waking up.
"It was no problem at all, I'll gladly talk any time. I hope you get a good sleep and feel better soon. I hope the best for your father. Goodnight Sam." I put my phone on the charger and made sure my alarms were set. I got a message that said, "Thank you so much. Same to you, goodnight Gabriel." I put my phone face down and fell asleep.
******
I woke up with a jolt as my alarm on my phone went off really loudly. I turned it off with a really loud groan that I'm sure my neighbors could hear. I lazily rolled out of bed and fell on the floor with a thud. I forgot how hard the floor was. I have classes today so this is going to be such a bore. I stood up and slowly went to my closet and grabbed a new pair of clothes. Nothing fancy, just a solid color shirt with my signature jacket and my favorite jeans to go with it.After I got changed I saw my reflection out of the corner of my eye in the mirror on my closet door. I chuckled to myself cause look at me, I'm in the closet!
I walked into the bathroom to take care of personal hygiene junk. After that I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a little bit of food. I put my shoes on while I was packing my bag, I've gotten pretty good at multitasking.
I finished my food as I was walking out the door. I always hated going to classes because that means there's an excessive amount of people around for several hours depending on how many classes you take. (I don't really know how college works so please forgive me. I'm totally winging it.)
After a good walking distance, I got there at the same time I always get there. I always try to be a little early to avoid most of the people. I walked into the building and into my big, big class and I took my seat. After about 10 minutes the professor walked in and told the class to, and I quote, "Shut the hell up before I throw another eraser at someone." He really does have a sense of humor that I personally enjoy.
I could only imagine what I would be like if I wasn't mute and had social anxiety, that would be absolutely insane. After about 15 minutes I get bored. Extremely bored. I start messing with my pencil start doodling a little bit. I erased it after a minute or so because otherwise I wouldn't remember to erase it later. I flick my eyes up and I freeze at what my eyes are seeing.
There's no way that could be him. Maybe I need glasses. I rubbed my eyes a few times and blinked to make sure my eyes were seeing correctly. Yep, there's no doubt about it. That is in fact, definately, absolutely him.
