"So," I started.
He jumped silently and turned to me as if he was not sure if he expected me to speak. Still I could tell that in that moment he focused all his attention on me. I could see his eyes quickly darting all over me and if he's studying my every feature. Way to not make a gay guy nervous. I inhaled as I prepared my throat to explain what happened the previous night.
"Last night, when I got home, I put your stuff down and then, not to sound dramatic, but I quite literally fainted on the middle of the floor," I pointed to the middle of my apartment floor, "right over there."
He looked over at the spot and I put my arm down. I looked at him to see his response. He looked at me dead in the eyes.
"I believe you."
He smiled at me and then he quickly started to look around room. He looked back at me and smiled. He seems pretty distracted.
"This is a really nice apartment. My family moved around a lot as a kid because my father joined the military after my mom passed away and so I've never really had a place to call home. Not in a very long time."
He shifted in the seat and and looked down at his hands in his lap. Wow I never knew this about him. I've always complained about living with all of my siblings and my dad was a nightmare, I tend to forget that other people have it just as bad. He's about to lose his father too along with his mom.
"I'm so sorry to hear that Sammy. So you have a brother named Dean. Do you have any other siblings?" He gave me a little soft smile but didn't move."
"No I don't. My older brother is all that I'll have left soon." Without thinking, I quickly put my hand on his knee.
"That's not true, you'll have me. I uh- I mean you'll have your friends. Including me, with your friends. Yeah."
My face started to heat up. I couldn't have said that any more awkwardly. He lifted his head up and his expression softened, he then turned his head and smiled at me. He put his hand over my hand."I guess you're right. I do have you don't I?"
It was at this moment that I realized how close we actually were. There was literally no space between the two of us. He started to lean and and so did I. As our faces were mere inches apart, my front door suddenly opened.
Sam and I jumped extremely hard and I immediately jumped up from the couch. I looked over to see a red head rushing to the counter.
"Hey Gabe. I thing I forgot something-"
She cut herself off on the sentence when she saw a rather large moose sitting on my couch looking fairly startled. I started to rub my forehead as this was another (heat of the) moment ruined between Sam and I. She gave an awkward smile at the two of us.
"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't know you had company over." Her face suddenly turned into one of suspicion.
"Gabe you don't have company over. Like ever."
"Wow way to throw me under the bus. Sam this is Charlie. Charlie this is Sam." Sam stood up and walked over to shake Charlie's hand.
"It's nice to meet you Charlie."
Wow he really does have good mannerisms, I'll never be able to compete, I'm too mute for that. She shook his hand and then she made that face she makes when the gears are turning in her head. Her eyes suddenly widened and she looked at me.
"Wait, this is THE Sam?????"
Oh my god she's doing the thing again where she fangirls. I looked at Sam and his facial expression was puzzled and he had a confused smile. I started blushing a little.
"Yes Charlie. This is Sam."
I shot her a look to shut her up. She gave me that smile that tells me she understands what I'm trying to convey but she's going to ignore me anyway. She looked back at Sam and smiled wide.
"It's so nice to finally meet you! Gabe has said a lot about you!" He looked back at me with a little smirk.
"Oh has he now? What kind of things?" Charlie got a devilish look and then looked at me.
"Gabe I think that Sam and I are going to get along just fine." Now it was Sam's turn to look at me.
"Oh I couldn't agree more." I gave Charlie my death stare and she rolled her eyes.
"Well I better get going so I could leave you two to some alone time."
She started wiggling her eyebrows and I got so embarrassed that I hid my face in my hands. She gave a rather loud laugh and walked to the door. She was almost out the door untold she stuck her head back in.
"I was nice to meet you Sam." I took my hands down to see her smirking and giggling a little.
I lifted my head from my hands and by instinct I grabbed the TV remote from the coffee table and threw it at the door, and it caused her to slam the door quickly so she wouldn't get hit. I swear she's so annoying sometimes but she's my best friend and as much as I hate her, I can't help but to love her too. I turned back at Sam and gave him an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry Samoose. She can be annoying sometimes." Sam just smiled and he started giggling.
"I find her amusing and she seems fun to be around."
Oh god did I fall for the male version of Charles??? What did I get myself into? I smiled at him and I took my seat back not the couch. Sam followed quickly after me. Once again, Sam's phone started ringing. He sighed and looked at me with a sorry face. He gave me a simple "excuse me" and walked to the other side of the room.
"Dean what is it this time?...I'm at a...friends place...Why?...I mean, it would be a little awkward...Okay, okay. Just let me sort this out. Jerk." He hung up the phone and turned to me.
"That was my brother Dean." He shifted his feet as if he was nervous about something.
"What does your brother want? His eyes darted around to anywhere but me. He's clearly nervous or uncomfortable about something. Was it something I said? Did I do something wrong? Or is it something that Dean wants? His eyes landed on the floor before he spoke up again. "Well that's what I was going to ask you."
