Days after Adéoba's confession, Àwèlé began to feel a yearning to see Àdìo ,the man who she met at the market and who had stolen her heart ever since. Fortunately, there would be another general market day soon.
On this day, she was on her way to the stream. But as she got closer to the stream, she began to suspect that she was being followed. She turned several times but shrugged off her suspicions when she couldn't see anyone. She got to the stream and fetched her water quickly, wanting to get home to her chores earlier. As she lifted the pot to her head, it was suddenly yanked off by a strong hand. Àwèlé blinked, stunned into temporary immobility, she turned to find out who the hand belonged to and instead found herself looking up at an impossibly tall man , carrying a dangerous looking sword in one hand and her water pot in the other. He smiled, as I he hadn't just scared a few years off her life and said.
" Good afternoon, I'm Ajagunyè"
Àwèlé shielded her eyes from the sun's glare and replied him.
"I'm Àwèlé"
"I know, the  prince sent me"
"Oh" was all she could say at first, then " why?"
He smiled again ,
" I was assigned  to  protect you"
"From what?"
Ajagunyè smiled again, he seemed to like doing that.
"I know, but he says that he will sleep better if he knows how you're doing"
Àwèlé's eyebrows scrunched up as she thought of what to do. Ajagunyè had turned and was already walking back to the village when she turned. She ran after him and asked for her pot.
" I'm afraid I can't do that. It's the Prince's orders".
After a lot of arguments, Àwèlé grudgingly agreed and allowed Ajagunyè to follow her. She decided  in her mind that she would talk to Adéoba the next day. It seemed like he wasn't ready to be just friends, and guards, really?.
What did she need them for, the village was perfectly safe, with the highest crime being theft or vandalism. She didn't really understand why she needed to be guarded. Soon, they got to her house and Ajagunyè told her he would be waiting around Incase she wanted to go out again. Àwèlé huffed before smiling at him as she went into her house.

Adéoba nodded as Ajagunyè recounted what Àwèlé did throughout the day to him.His main aim was not to protect Àwèlé , but to monitor her with out looking like a creep. Ajagunyè was given a job to monitor her closely and to report any  man who talked to Àwèlé back to him, protecting her was just a side job. Even though she'd outrightly told him that there was no hope for a romantic relationship between them, he still believed that she would be his at the end of the day. Adéoba looked at Ajagunyè,
"Make her tell you the name of that thing she thinks she is in love with, then find him, and bring him to me"
Ajagunyè was taken aback by the Prince's request"My prince, we are not friends, neither are we close enough for her to tell me something like that"
Adéoba thought about this for some moments. Then he got an idea.
" Bring her friend, Aríyíké, to the usual place tomorrow. I don't care how she gets there. Get her there. She's bound to know who he is"
Ajagunyè bowed and left the Prince's presence, scared of the evil glint in his eyes and the maniacal smile on his lips. Even though he didn't know much about what was going on, he  knew one thing.
Something was very, very wrong with the Prince.

A/n: whelp, Adéoba is getting creepier.
