Instead, I decided to enjoy the party, catching up with friends and family, and indulging in the delectable spread of food.

As the evening progressed, Aubrey's mood seemed to lighten slightly, and he even managed to engage in small talk with some of our guests. Maybe there was hope that he would eventually warm up to the idea of letting me have a life outside our relationship.

But as the night drew to a close, and we began our journey back home, Aubrey's protective aura returned in full force. It was clear that he still harbored doubts and insecurities that I couldn't fully comprehend.

As I lay in bed that night, my thoughts returned to Aubrey's mysterious nature. There was something beneath the surface, something that made him both frustrating and intriguing. I couldn't help but wonder if one day I would unlock the secrets he kept hidden, or if some things were destined to remain a mystery in our relationship.
So it turns out the engagement party was closer than we thought.And it turns out that Aubrey wasn't kidding about coming.

"Natalie hurry up we have to go soon!"Aubrey shouted starting to get tired of waiting. Well honey I'm sorry that beauty takes time.
And it's technically his fault because every dress I wore it was either short or revealing.

"I'm coming! Let me put my shoes on"

I looked at myself in the mirror and damn I look good:

-Omds if any of my og remember HOW CRUSTY AND DUSTY THE OTHER DRESS LOOKED. DAMN MY SOUL WENT TO HEAVEN AFTER SEEING THAT SHIT-

I put my finishing touches of makeup and closed my door and walked downstairs. I saw Aubrey on the couch on his phone.I tapped his shoulder,he was startled but calmed down when he saw me.

"I'm ready" I said standing there in silence. It was kinda awkward considering I was just standing here and he was just staring at me.

"Ok let's go them what are you waiting for? For me to drag you into the car?"

"No I-"

"Don't keep me waiting!"

I noticed he was already out of the door and was near the car. This man really does want to test me.

"Bitch" I muttered under my breath.

"What did you say NATALIE!"

"Nothing I'm coming!"

At the engagement party

Finally we got there at the end after a whole discussion about what I can and not do at this event

Can:

-eat
-drink
-love Aubrey

Can't:

- no talking to the opposite gender
-no talking to the opposite gender
-no talking to the opposite gender
-no talking to the opposite gender

Yeah that's pretty much it. All of a sudden,the car stopped and I saw my door open by Aubrey and I gave him a smile in return. As I walk out I start seeing flashes and cameras, well that's my sister for you. An attention seeking cow. I never really liked the cameras but I am very photogenic if I do say so.

"Come on let's give them a show." Aubrey said with his hand out with a smirk on his face.

"Of course germlin"

"Donkey"

"Rat"

I felt his hand grip my waist and we started to walked through the crowed,

"Natalie what are you wearing tonight?

"I'm wearing Walmart"

"Natalie who's your date tonight?"

" It's this beautiful specimen made by god. Aubrey bucciarati ."

"NATATLIE!"

I looked to my left and saw my sister pushing past everyone and immediately slapped my face. I gripped onto it in shock. I'm actually speechless.

" Of course you have to make this about you like always. You always do this. You attention-seeker!" She said spitting hatred and jealously in my face. Unknowingly, a tear rolled down my bruising cheek and the only words I could form were,

"W-What do you mean?" I stuttered with shock. How dare she slap me? How dare she call me an attention seeker? What was I expecting though? My whole life has been like this, it's probably because I grew up the only black person in a white family. I've always wanted to be the perfect sister to Nicole but I could  never live up to her standards. I would've slapped her up but I want her to be happy it's her engagement party after all.  I've always wanted her to be happy. I gotta remember bad bitches don't cry...

" You come to my wedding and take all the attention.Are you that sick in the head? Why are you even here? And look now you ruined the party. Like always"

I could hear heavy breaths coming from beside me. I knew it was  Aubrey but I was too ashamed to even look at him right now. I don't want him to make fun of the situation. I felt a hand slowly graze my shoulder and grip it softly. I looked up and saw Aubrey giving me a smile before turning to Nicole,

" I dare you to touch her again. I dare you to make her upset one more time because if you do something bad will happen to you and your family. We don't even want to be in some party that's infested with rats." Aubrey said walking closer to her with every word he spoke. Closer and closer he got the more I got more scared for what he was going to do. I ran up to him and gripped his hand,

" Let's go we can call a exterminator on the way. Please." I said giving him a fake smile. I tugged his hand motioning that we should go. Even though people were recording, all I could hear were her hurtful words.
Over and over and over again.

In the car

The car was silent, both of us were too deep in thought to say anything.

I dare you to make her upset again

I start replaying everything that Aubrey said over and over again. I'm thankful for him. I might not show it but I am. I turned my body to face Aubrey and just stared at him,

"And yes, we're a mess but I'm blessed to be stuck with you. Even
sometimes it gets unhealthy but sometimes we just need each other Aubrey. Thank you Aubrey..." I felt his hand grip my thigh in response and slowly rubs circles in it.
-YOU KNOW WHAT I DONT EVEN CARE THAT I PUT THESE COMMENTS MID WAY THROUGH A CHAPTER BUT WHEN SOMEONE KNEW THE REFERENCE OF WHAT I WROTE I GASPED FOR AIR AND JUMPED OFF A CLIFF-

" Anytime Nat, anytime" He said flashing me a smile.
