(just an FYI the dates are all over the place to please forgive, It's a story)
I just made it to the hospital after two very long flights. I don't even know how I managed to do that with everything that happened. I'm extremely exhausted. I slept on the plane, but I feel like I've been awake for weeks. I know I should be in back in Jersey with Christopher, but my friend needs me and so does my daughter.
"How is she?" I asked the doctor as he was leaving Mo's room.
"And you are??" the doctor asked.
"I'm Hazel Plant. I'm Maureen's sister-in-law."
"Mhmm. Why are you speaking in an American accent?"
"I went to school in America for a few years. You're accent drops after a while and an American accent isn't hard to mimic." I rolled my eyes, "Now, how is Maureen doing."
"Right now, she's still unconscious but alive. After the blood transfusion, she may regain consciousness within a few hours. She has a fractured pelvis and skull."
"What about the three kids with her?"
"They are with their other aunt in the waiting room. The two blonde children have a few bruises but the girl with reddish hair does not seem to be in harm."
"The reddish hair girl is mine. Did you prefer a medical exam on her?"
"Due to the fact that she's under the age of sixteen, we could not legally give her a medical exam without consent. And like I said by the looks of it she's okay."
"Okay well, now that I am here can you give her an exam."
"If you want." He said rudely.
"You know what, I should trust you. You're a professional."
He didn't say anything after that. I mean I gave him my famous Jersey attitude. I rolled my eyes and walked away. Really great hospital. I've seen worse but this one takes the cake. I walked over towards the waiting room. I can't wait to see my little one. As soon as I got to the waiting room I ran right up to Scar.
"Honey" I hugged her so tightly not wanting to let go.
"Mummy you're here. I missed you" she hugged back.
"I missed you too" I moved back but kept my hand on her arms, "Are you hurt?"
"Not really. I have a little bruise here" she pointed at the knee, "But that's from the other day but uncle Bob and aunty Mo are hurt."
I looked at her bruise and it did seem like it was a few days since she's gotten them.
"Hey Mummy, where's daddy?" she asked.
"Still at the hotel, I believe." I smiled and got up to thank Mo's sister.
"Oh, it's no problem." Shirley smiled, "Scarlett was such a big helpful girl."
---
I stayed at the hospital until visiting hours were over. Mo didn't wake up yet and I hope she does soon. I told Shirley, her husband, and Carmen that my mom and dad died. I didn't want to worry the little ones but Carmen was awake while the other two took a little nap. I wasn't able to get hold of Lisa. I called Marc's house since they live together, but no one was at home. After visiting hours, all of us took a cab back to the hotel. On the way back to the hotel the kids fell asleep so we dropped them off in the hotel room to let them sleep. Apparently, Jimmy had his own room a couple of doors down. I didn't bother to walk to his room so I called him instead.
