Chapter 29: Rivals of love

Narrator  POV

"Dammit!" Arlo yelled out as he slammed his close fist against the metal locker.

The student from Signal were in a locker room as they waited for this small recess to be over before the last two matches. The others turned their heads to avoid seeing Arlo angry.

"How could you possibly mess that up Kaze?!" Arlo yelled as Kaze tensed up a bit.

" It was just...small miscalculation on my part..." He said carefully.

"Oh just a small calculation? Well that small miscalculation made us lose-"

"Enough Mr. Wellston." A familiar calm voice said.

Arlo and the rest looked at towards the door as Professor Pina entered the room. She had a smile on her face as she took a sip from her mug.

"Everyone could you give Mr. Wellston and I a few moments to speak?" Professor Pina asked them.

Quietly, the other four left the room as Arlo glared at the Professor of the academy. Professor Pina took a seat on one of the chairs as she looked at Arlo.

"Now what seems to be the cause of this outburst Mr. Wellston? Usually your very calm about most situations" Professor Pina asked.

"You saw what happened! Kaze's mistake caused of that last round. His foolish mistake gave him the confidence he needed!" Arlo said in a angry tone.

"Him? Don't you mean them Mr. Wellston?" Professor Pina asked as she took another sip.

Arlo tensed up as he looked down in frustration. His fist clenched tightly as he tried to figure out what to say.

"If I may be so bold, it seems your frustrated at how far young Y/n has came since leaving Signal" Professor Pina said calmly.

"Far? He's still nothing but trash" Arlo argued. Professor Pina quietly sighed as she stood up.

"Pride can a dangerous thing to have Mr. Wellston. I've been friends with your mother for a long time and witnessed how much potential you have" Professor Pina said as Arlo continued to stare at her. "However I also remember a time where you and the other four would play with your cousin."

"He's not my cousin! He's nothing more than a murdering bastard!" Arlo shouted.

"Hmm...seems after all this time, you still remain blind from the truth. Or is it perhaps you refuse to accept it? Alas it's almost to head back. I'll leave so you can have a talk with your team before the matches" Professor Pina said as she headed towards the door.

".....too much..." Arlo mumbled.

"What was that Mr. Wellston?" Professor Pina asked as she stopped at the door.

"I said you drink too much coffee ma'am. That much after all these years can't be healthy" Arlo said in a calm tone.

"Coffee? I don't drink coffee Mr. Wellston" Professor Pina said before turning her head at him and smiling. " I only drink hot chocolate."

She walked out the door to to which I hear he phone ring. I could hear footsteps grow quieter but I could still hear her last words.

"He...lost?"

Y/n POV

"Are you sure your gonna be ok Mina? You took a beating out there" I asked her.

"I'll be fine. Recovery Girl did an amazing job" Mina replied back.

Mina and I were heading back to arena after I went to check up on her and Kyoka. Mina was feeling better but Kyoka was still unconscious from her fight.

"Still I'm glad that Tokoyami was able to win his round. That means we still have a chance to win this" Mina said happily.

I remained quiet as she continued to talk. I didn't want to rain on her parade but these next two fights were gonna be tough. Ashley's quirk works off her negative emotions and if our past encounters say anything, it's that she hates Tsuyu and our relationship. As for Arlo, his quirk alone is powerful. It's almost impenetrable and on top of that, it bounces any damage back at the attacker.

I sighed as I try to shake these thoughts away. Luckily Mina had continued to talk and didn't notice my silence. As we approached the arena, I prepared myself for what are gonna be the two hardest matches yet.

"Welcome back everyone. We will now begin the fourth round of the fight. Will Tsuyu Asui and Ashley Jasper please report to the arena" Midnight said.

I watch as Tsuyu makes her way to the arena as Ashley follows the actions. I tightened my hands into fists as I worry  for Tsuyu. I've seen what Ashley was capable of doing to other people. Her ferocity was on a different scale.

I shake my head as I try to remove these negative thoughts from my mind. Thinking like that isn't gonna do anyone any good. I've seen Tsuyu fight during hero class. She can do this. I know she can. I watched her as she heads towards the arena. I was preparing myself for the fight till I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turn my head to see Principal Nezu standing behind me.

"Can I help you with something sir?" I ask him.

"Ah yes actually. Can you please follow me Mr. L/n?" He asked me.

"But sir the match! It's about to-"

"This happens to be urget. Now if you would please follow me" Nezu said as he turned his back, ending the discussion.

I looked towards the arena to see Tsuyu and Ashley facing each other. I sigh as I stood up and follow the small creature that was my principal.

We walked through to halls till we made our way to a teacher's lounge. He entered the room and despite not saying anything, I followed him inside. There sitting at the table sipping from mug, was Principal Pina. She looked up with a smile as Principal Nezu and I took a seat.

"Ah young Y/n. I'm happy to see you have been doing well here" She said to me.

"Right...not to be rude but why are you here?" I asked her.

"I had Principal Nezu bring you here. There is something to I'd like discuss with you" She said in a serious tone. "It's about El Lobo or I should say your uncle Diego." A shiver went down my back as she said my uncle's name. I gulped as the words escaped my mouth.

"What about my uncle?" I asked as I looked at her and Principal Nezu. They each held a serious yet somber expression on their face. "What happened to my uncle?!"

I didn't intend to raise my voice however the silence was suddenly becoming unbearable.

"Calm down kid. Your letting your emotions get over you" Zwei said to me. I attempted to calm down as Principal Pina sighed and looked at me.

"Your uncle...died in a fight against a villian..." she said a regretful tone.

"What...did you say..." I asked in a shocked tone. I must of misheard. There's no way I heard that right.

"Your uncle is dead. He gave his life to save a group of students from a villian" Nezu said quietly. "He died a hero's death."

My uncle...the only family I had left is now gone. I felt the feelings in my legs as I collapse to my knees. I just saw him a few months ago. How could things change so much in such a short amount of time?

"The villian...did you manage to catch him?" I asked to no one specifially.

"Unfortanately they manage to escape. However we did manage to catch his name" Pina responded.

"His name...what was his name" I asked her without facing her.

The villian's name was...Malice."
