chapter 27: Questions

The week went by smoothly, I haven't gotten any replies from that number. I was beginning to question my sanity. I would check the chat from time to time just to prove I wasn't imagining it. The day was as usual. During break Soo Ri sat with me.

"Hey Mirae ah have you heard?" Soo Ri asked me with mischief.

I decided to entertain her.

"No I haven't. What happened?"

"You haven't heard the news? The one about the women who got kidnapped and murdered!"

I couldn't put my finger on it. But hearing her say that sent shivers down my spine.

"When? I mean how?"

"No one knows. The police have been working on the case for months but no lead. But they said that this might be connected to a few cases dated few years back. They said the killer might have been at it for at least 2 years!"

"How come they haven't caught him? And why does he do it?"

"He's really slick to have not been caught after this long and I'm not sure how he chooses his victims. But each of his victim was someone who was out late at night. Either after work or clubbing."

"Gosh we better be careful. It's so scary hearing about it."

"Yup."

I went back to the meeting room and was waiting for the boys. Two girls entered in. They arranged the papers and bottles around the table. While doing their work they started talking.

"Have you heard?"

"The girl who was working in the editing department went missing!"

"What? Seriously!"

"I heard she was working late at night. Then she left but the company got a call from the police saying her family members filed in a report."

"Gosh! Is that why we'll be having a few cops visiting us later?"

"Yeah. They wanna check the CCTV footage and ask a few questions."

I was surprised to hear about it. Could it be connected to the murder Soo Ri mentioned earlier?

"Hi excuse me. I'm sorry to interrupt but I'm just too curious.  Has anyone else gone missing from our company before or is this the first time?" I asked them politely

"Ummm... I think there has been one before this. There was one before like 4 or 5 months ago."

"Oh yeah! I remember. It was before the rookie manger from our company had an accident and went into a coma!"

I realised they were talking about me. I decided not to tell them.

"What happened? Did the police find her?" I asked them

"Yeah but she was found dead tied to a chair in a middle of a highway. There wasn't any CCTV near. So they couldn't find who."

"Wahhhh. It's must be an unlucky year. So many things happened at our company."

The boys entered the room and the two girls left. The boys smiled at me and sat around the table.

"So what have you been up to?" Taeyung asked me.

"Oh nothing much. Just heard some few news about some missing girls. It gives me the creeps."

"Awww you don't have to worry. You have us. We'll protect you no matter what." Jin said.

"Thanks..." I said while blushing.

We were continued our discussion.
