"What?!" I exclaimed, shocked that she said it so quickly. 'Mom.'

Mom bit back an amused smile and studied me, not even hiding the amusement from her eyes. "Don't tell me that y-"

"I know that Werewolves can talk telepathically," I said, interrupting her. I rolled my eyes when her lips twitched because it was becoming harder for her not to smile. 'I thought you were going to say something in front of Aenes.'

"Wait... what?" Serenity asked. She tried to take her hand out of mine but stopped when I squeezed it, silently begging for her not to take her hand out of mine. Her eyes grew wide when she stared at me, and her heart started to pound in her chest.

"Come, let's walk and talk," Mom said, gesturing for us to follow her. "It will be safer that way." She started to walk forward, and I followed her with Serenity reluctantly following at my side. 'I want to get the gist of everything out of the way first,' she replied. 'Aenes thought it would be for the best.'

I furrowed my brows and cocked my head. 'How?' I asked. 'How were you able to contact him?'

Mom smirked and tapped her head while she turned to me before she turned away. 'I had him set up a bond between us,' she replied. "You're in a pack of Werewolves, Serenity. All of us can shift into huge wolves and not just on the full moon."

Serenity furrowed her brows and cocked her head. "Really?" she asked. She took out of mine, and I frowned because I did not want to let go just yet. My mate shifted away from me, and my heart broke a little because it felt like she was closing herself off from the world and me while she wrapped her arms across her body.

"You saw my wolf as well as TJ's and Ceira's," Mom said. She turned around and offered her an apologetic smile. "I am sorry that I startled you. I was trying to make sure that you wouldn't remember."

"Why not?" Serenity asked. She furrowed her brows further. "Mate," she said. "I had said mate to one of the wolves, a gray wolf with a white snout and white paws." She looked at me. "It was you, wasn't it?"

I nodded, not able to say a word because my throat decided to close off. I had the urge to reach for her hand, but I didn't because I knew that she wasn't ready; she didn't want to hold my hand, and I wasn't going to push her to it.

"To answer your question, it is because we had known that you were my son's mate," Mom said, tearing the female's gaze away from me and towards her. "Your parents, or at least your father, is working for someone that doesn't like us, for some reason. They want to use you to get close to us."

"Why?" Serenity asked. "What do they want from you?"

Mom shrugged a shoulder and grimaced. "I think it's because I am the White Wolf with powers," she replied. "It's been going on since I had found out that I was one when I was sixteen."

"And how old you are now?" Serenity asked.

Mom smiled. "Old enough to be your mother," she replied, winking. She took a bite of her ice cream and shrugged. "I'm thirty-eight." She shrugged and wrinkled her nose. "I am getting old," she complained, and I rolled my eyes.

"Mom, you are already old," I said, and she gave me the stink eye. I smiled innocently, and her lips curled up into a smile. "You just won't die when you are a hundred."

Mom scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Un-huh." She cleared her throat and licked her lips. "Your father thinks that TJ has some powers because he is the son of a Black Wolf and a White Wolf, which is rare in itself. He is also born from two people that do have powers."

"Powers?" Serenity asked. "As in more than one?"

"As in more than one," she confirmed. She held out her hand and created a small tornado in her grasp. "I control wind and water while my mate controls fire and earth." She closed her hand and extinguished the tornado.

"Do you have powers?" Serenity asked, and I shrugged my shoulders because I didn't know. She frowned and nodded her head before she looked at my mother. "What can you tell me about mates? How do I know that... TJ is my mate?"

"You want to be in his presence at all times," she said. "You crave his touch and his body more than anything else. You don't want to be apart from him, even though you have to be. His scent is the best thing that you smell, and you crave it as if it was some drug that makes you feel good."

"You also feel sparks when you touch me," I said. I moved my hand a little towards her and wiggled my pinkie, praying that she would get the message and hook her pinkie with mine. I cleared my throat and licked my lips. "It's the same way for me."

Serenity looked at my pinkie, but she didn't place her pinkie in mine like I prayed she would. Instead, she looked up until she met my gaze, her blue eyes wide with fear and nervousness. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I stopped and turned to face her, and she stopped as well but was a few feet away from me. I didn't care that Mom kept going because this was a straight path and would lead to the secret place I had been in before. "I want to be in your presence at all times," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I hate being apart from you, especially when we are "close" together." I took a step forward. "I crave your touch and your body more than anything else in this world."

Serenity gulped but didn't say a word. Her heart pounded in her chest, and my heart picked up until it was beating at the same pace as hers. She stayed rooted in her spot while watching me walk closer and closer to her, but she wasn't afraid; I could tell. She was nervous, yes, but she wasn't afraid.

"I don't want to be apart from you, even though I know that I have to be for the safety of not only us but for the Werewolf population as well." I stopped until I was in front of her and studied the beautiful female in front of me. The urge to kiss her was strong, but I held back because I didn't want to scare her. "Your scent is the best thing that I had smelled in my whole life, and I crave that and you because you are my drug of choice. You have always been, Serenity, even when we were younger."

"Do you feel sparks?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She raised her hand, and I placed my hands on hers, and sparks appeared. She gasped out loud, but she didn't remove her hands from mine.

"Yes," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I clasped my fingers around hers and brought her hand close to my lips, and brushed them against it but didn't touch it. I studied her reaction and noticed that her heart skipped a beat when I did that.

Serenity gasped out loud, and again, her heart skipped a beat. She didn't pull away from me like I thought she would, but I could tell that she was slightly uncomfortable with something that I had done or didn't do. Her cheeks turned a soft red hue, and my heart melted because she looked so cute.

I closed my eyes and pulled back my wolf before I let out a soft sigh and released her hand. "I'm sorry," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted on my feet. "I shouldn't have done that."

Serenity shook her head. Her bottom lip quivered for some reason, and it broke my heart because I hated seeing her look so upset and distraught. "Don't," she said. She flung her arms around my neck, and I stood stiff before I relaxed and pulled her into a hug, burying my face into the crook between her neck and shoulders and took in her scent to calm my wolf. "I have to forget about all of this, don't I?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I closed my eyes and squeezed her tighter and closer to me, making sure that I didn't hurt this beautiful female. "Yes." My voice cracked, but I didn't care because I knew that she wouldn't make fun of me for being "weak" and not having control over my emotions.

"Will you remember everything?" she asked. "That had happened here and today?"

"Yes."

She took a deep breath and nodded her head before she pulled away. Her eyes held this determined look in them, and all I could do was cock my head and study her. "Then remember this," she said.

And with that, she placed a single kiss on my lips.
