mrs. kai: "Thank you for coming early to help Kai set up, Soobin."

soobin: "Of course. Thank you for letting me come. I know it's usually just family, right?"

mrs. kai: "Oh, don't be silly. I see how close Kai has grown with you, so it's no problem at all. Is [y/n] coming?"

soobin: "Yes, she said she was on the way."

mrs. kai: "This is going to be so much fun, you'll see! Our family is a little wild when it comes to these holiday parties."

soobin: (laughs) "Can't wait to see it unfold."

mrs. kai: "Kai! Where is that boy..."

hueningkai: "I'm right here, Mom."

mrs. kai: "Help Soobin finish setting up the table, please."

hueningkai: "I was just about to. I just had to finish arranging gifts under the tree."

mrs. kai: "Are you sure you were just arranging them and not shaking each box to figure out what the gifts are?"

hueningkai: "I would never."

mrs. kai: (rolls eyes) "I need to finish up in the kitchen but please welcome guests in when they start to arrive. Okay?"

hueningkai: "Yes, ma'am."

[MRS. KAI leaves]

hueningkai: "She's such a stickler for these holiday parties."

soobin: "It is only once a year."

hueningkai: "But still, it's not like we're attending a red carpet. Don't get me wrong, though, it's still nice to get dressed up."

soobin: "I had to borrow my dad's tie."

hueningkai: "You can't even tell. A tie is a tie."

[FRONT DOOR OPENS]

hueningkai: "Hello! Welcome..."

(silence)

hueningkai: "...in. [y/n]. Wow. You look like... like..."

y/n: "Like I'm decently dressed for once?"

hueningkai: "No, like a snowman in that white outfit!"

y/n: (frowns) "It's cold outside, okay? Give me a break."

hueningkai: "Kidding. The sweater is great."

y/n: "Oh, hey Soobin. You're here early."

soobin: (silence)

hueningkai: "Soobin."

soobin: "You look really pretty."

hueningkai: "Thanks."

y/n: "I think he meant..."

hueningkai: "Oh. Oh."

soobin: (clears throat) "Sorry. Yeah, just thought I'd, you know, acknowledge it out loud like Kai just did."

hueningkai: "I called her a snowman."

soobin: "Same thing."

y/n: "So you're also saying I look like a snowman?"

soobin: "What? No, I mean... I--"

mrs. kai: "[y/n]! You're here! You look amazing."

y/n: "Thank you. See, Kai and Soobin need to learn how-to-properly-compliment-someone lessons from you."

mrs. kai: "They'll learn. Come help me in the kitchen."

y/n: "Okay."

[Y/N leaves]

hueningkai: "You okay? You look all dazed."

soobin: "I'm not."

hueningkai: "O-kaaay. Can you help me set up these Christmas lights above the couch?"

soobin: "Sure."

hueningkai: "A little more to the right."

soobin: "Like this?"

hueningkai: "Perfect. Hey, I saw you walk in with more than one gift earlier."

soobin: "I got gifts for you and [y/n], too."

hueningkai: "You didn't have to." (whispers) "So, did you get me those socks?"

soobin: "Patience, grasshopper."

hueningkai: "Oh, more people are coming in now. Come on."

[GUESTS arrive]

y/n: "You guys have a large family."

mrs. kai: "We do. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not." (clears throat) "So, I noticed Soobin brought in extra gifts."

y/n: "He did?"

mrs. kai: (nods) "I'm sure one of them is for you."

y/n: "Oh no... but I didn't bring him anything. I just brought one gift for white elephant later."

mrs. kai: "There is one gift you can give him."

y/n: "Really?"

mrs. kai: "It's free, too. Don't worry, I'll help you with it later."

y/n: "Okay. Thank you."
