mrs. kai: "Welcome in!" (smiles) "Soobin, hello!"

soobin: "Hello."

mrs. kai: "How are you?"

soobin: "I'm good, thank you. Actually, I was wondering if Kai was here?"

mrs. kai: "He's not, actually, he ran an errand with his dad."

soobin: "Explains why he hasn't really answered the phone... that's alright, I'll get going, then."

mrs. kai: "No, no, sit. I'll make you your usual boba drink. On the house."

soobin: "Oh no, that's okay--"

mrs. kai: "I insist."

soobin: "Really, that's alrig--"

mrs. kai: "Sit."

[SOOBIN sits down]

mrs. kai: "So,  are you happy to have a little break from school?"

soobin: "Yes. And our teachers haven't given us any extra work, since it's halfway through the year already."

mrs. kai: "Soon you'll all be graduating... oh, how time flies."

soobin: "It really does."

mrs. kai: "I remember when Hyuka was nervous about the first day of high school."

soobin: "Hueningkai, nervous?"

mrs. kai: "Oh yes. He has his anxious moments, as we all do. But I'm so glad he met [y/n]. She pulled him out of his shell."

soobin: "Wow."

mrs. kai: "Now she's pulling you out of yours."

soobin: "What do you mean?"

mrs. kai: "I just mean that it seems you've grown a lot more certain about yourself and what you want with [y/n] around. When I first met you, you seemed lost."

soobin: "I definitely still feel lost."

mrs. kai: "At your age, of course. But you seem to know the path you want to take, even if you haven't taken it yet."

soobin: "I guess..."

mrs. kai: "[y/n] is very driven and very smart."

soobin: "She is."

mrs. kai: "She's also a good friend."

soobin: "A really good friend."

mrs. kai: "And is this what you're afraid to jeopardize?"

soobin: "Yes-- wait, what?"

mrs. kai: "Soobin... it's very obvious."

soobin: "........really?"

mrs. kai: "You like her."

soobin: (silence)

mrs. kai: "Now, it's not my place to tell you how long you've liked her because only you can know that. But Soobin... honesty is key."

soobin: "Not if it means she doesn't like me back."

mrs. kai: "How do you know she doesn't like you back?"

soobin: "She told me."

mrs. kai: "She said, 'Soobin, I don't like you like that'?"

soobin: "Well, no..."

mrs. kai: "Then you don't know that."

soobin: "She's into another person."

mrs. kai: "She might be 'into' him but it doesn't mean she doesn't like you."

soobin: "It does."

mrs. kai: (sighs) "I know it should be that black and white but unfortunately it's not. You know that."

soobin: (silence)

mrs. kai: "You might be afraid but imagine how she feels. Maybe she's afraid, too."

soobin: "I don't know what to do."

mrs. kai: "First, drink this boba."

[MRS. KAI hands SOOBIN boba drink]

soobin: "Thank you."

mrs. kai: "Then, tell her how you feel. All of it."

soobin: "Right now?"

mrs. kai: "It's up to you when you want to speak with her. But the sooner, the better."

soobin: "I need to talk to Kai first--"

mrs. kai: "Trust me, he is well aware that you have feelings for [y/n]."

soobin: "He is?"

mrs. kai: "If I can tell, then so can my son."

soobin: (laughs)

mrs. kai: "If you get hurt, you get hurt. But at least you said what you needed to say. Right?"

soobin: "Right."
