His confirmation sent a wave of emotions through me. For one I was thrilled to have at least some of the answers I was searching for. On the other hand, I felt sickened to be the child of a monster.

The child within me yearned to have Mr. Bear in my arms to protect me from the darkness. Unfortunately, the darkness was my own mother. I had spent my whole life wanting to meet her. I had so many questions for her that would probably never be answered.

"So what happens now?" I asked him after I had a moment to collect my thoughts. "Will I be arrested?"

"If Evelyn had her way, probably, but I'm the headmaster here. I think this school would do you some good. If you're willing to stay that is," he replied, raising his eyebrows in interest at what my decision would be.

Part of me was ready to flee and head back to the orphanage. I could go back to my normal life and pretend none of this happened. I could explain to Mary how I'd reached a dead end in my search. Unfortunately, the larger part of me was dead set on staying here.

I'd come too far to run away now. Despite who my mother was, I was still a supernatural. I didn't have a place in the human world any longer.

"I'll stay." I managed to answer. He seemed pleased with that response.

"Excellent. First I want one of our professors to take a look at you. I want to know why we can't sense anything supernatural on you." He reached for his outdated ebony phone at the corner of his desk.

"Could it be because nature rejected Anna...I mean my mother?"

"No that can't be it. Nature rejected her but it wouldn't affect her bloodline." He answered, dialing a number on his phone.

"Amelia, are you through with your class yet?" He asked into the phone, pausing for her response.

"Oh okay. No, no that's alright I understand. I'll check back with you in a few hours. I just need a favor from you if you don't mind."

Once they'd said their goodbyes he returned the phone to its cradle. He opened his mouth to say something but a loud tap on his door interrupted him.

"Come in," he called out. I turned to see Evelyn once again. She stood scowling down at me pulling someone in the room behind her. She slammed the door with a dramatic kick of her heel. My eyes wandered to the other intruder.

My heart seemed to stop beating in that moment. I'd read plenty of Mary's cheesey romance novels but never thought there was actually anything to it. My palms began to sweat as my heart returned to a pounding beat.

He was the most gorgeous human being, or well being of some sort, I'd ever laid eyes on. He stood just a few inches shy of six foot. His mesmerizing silver- blue eyes peeked out from the strands of black hair that badly needed a trim. His eyes reminded me of the color of storm clouds against a bright blue sky.

I couldn't help but notice how toned his arms were. He wore a tight black v-neck with a dark pair of blue jeans pulled over a pair of black boots. The mystery guy's face displayed an amused expression over the professor's attitude. The expression immediately changed once his eyes set on me. He glared at me with a mix of curiousity and resentment. I looked away quickly focusing my attention back on Silus.

"What did he do this time?" He groaned, rubbing his temples in annoyance.

"I caught him feeding on one of the fairies again!" Professor Evelyn boomed. She brushed past me and leaned over the desk, her face just inches from the headmaster's.

"I want him expelled, Silus." She growled. She was either brave or incredibly stupid to make demands to a vampire. Especially the headmaster none the less.

"Thank you for your suggestion, professor. Return to class and I'll deal with Mr. Black." He motioned for her to leave. He was unfazed by her dominating actions. This must have been a daily occurrence. She stared him down for another moment.

When she realized he wasn't going to give in to her, she stormed out in a huff. She made sure to slam the door extra hard behind her. The guy she'd brought in leaned back against the door unfazed. He had his arms crossed which only made his toned arms stand out even more.

I struggled to tear my eyes off of him. It became easy once he shot me a nasty look. He must've known who I was.

"Ian, please stop provoking Evelyn. I can't keep giving you breaks. I really want you to be successful here." Silus pleaded with him.

"That's the thing I dont want to be here," Ian shrugged. I felt awkward sitting there listening to their exchange. The phone rang before Silus could argue with him.

"Amelia? Yes I can meet you. I'll be right there." He hung up the phone. He stood and motioned at me.

"Josie, come with me. Ian, we will discuss this further at a later time." He glared at Ian on his way out the door.

I gathered my belongings and brushed past the troublemaker. I couldn't help but notice how amazing he smelled. It was an outdoorsy wood scent mixed with fresh rain. He didn't react as we passed him.

I followed Silus down the hall and into a large classroom. The well lit room bubbled over in color. The bright pink paint reflected off of the tiny chandeliers hung throughout the room. Easels displaying various abstract art lined the walls.

It looked as if all of the students had already been dismissed. A petite woman, a few inches shy of my five foot two frame, practically levitated towards us. She walked so light and quick it looked as if her feet didnt touch the floor.

She was absolutely beautiful. Her blonde hair was cut into a cute pixie style. Her enormous emerald eyes sparkled as she neared us. She studied me with an overly excited grin.

"Amelia, this is Josie." Silus introduced us.

"Its nice to meet you, Josie! I'm a professor here." She extended her hand enthusiastically. I shook it nervously. I wasnt sure why the woman looked so happy. It was still better than the stick in the mud that was Evelyn.

"Amelia is a fairy." Silus explained glancing at me when he noticed my uncertainty. I nodded unsure of how that explained anything at all. I watched the overly bubbly woman listen as Silus filled her in on the details.

Once he had finished I had expected her mood to change. It didnt. She studied me with her large eyes in amazement.

"I wanted to see if you could discern what's making her appear human. I'm assuming it's a spell or charm of some sort," Silus told the bouncy little woman.

"May I see your hand, sweetie?" Amelia smiled holding out her child sized hand. I placed mine in hers although I wasnt sure what would happen. She closed her eyes and hummed to herself. Suddenly her eyes snapped open and she returned my hand.

"Its a cloaking charm of some sort. I haven't seen this one before but I can feel the dark magic off of it." She chattered. I couldnt sense any sort of fear in her response at all. Was she always this happy?

"Can you lift it?" Silus asked.

"Probably but itll take some time. I'll need a drop of your blood to begin," she smiled at me.

While the fairy went to work on a way to break the cloaking charms hold, I sat at one of the desks. Silus stood to my right watching Amelia with interest.

"That Ian guy didnt seem to like me all that much," I remarked. Word must had travelled fast about the dark witch having a daughter. The culprit of spreading it had to be Evelyn herself.

"I guess I could see why he wouldn't. His parents were some of your mothers followers who were executed."
