Chapter 49

Quinn's POV

Everyone in currently sitting at the table finishing up breakfast, "What does everyone have planned for today?" My dad asks taking a drink of his coffee, "I am going to be spending the day watching movies on the Hallmark Channel and going over the new patient files for the hospital." Grandma Etta comments but doesn't look away from the file in her hand, "I am going back to bed, I work tonight and I need all the sleep I can get." Jared remarks then stands up and places his  dirty dishes in the dish washer, "I am going to Shark Reef Aquarium toady." My dad gives me a look like if I want to go then I better give him more information.

"Relax dad, I am going with a friend of mine named Nick." I say then I stand up and put my dirty dishes in the dish washer, "I am not familiar with Nick, which means that I haven't had the pleasure to scare the crap out of him yet." My dad crosses his massive arms over his chest, "You will meet him I promise, changing the subject now." I say and before my dad can grill me anymore on Nick I cut him off, "What are you doing today dad? It is your one day off for the week."My grandma and my dad both share the same look,

"Maybe I was wrong, maybe Quinn has been learning the tricks of our trades over the years." Etta comments with a small smile on her lips. "I am just going to relax at home today." I walk over to my dad and hug his neck, "I love you dad." I give him a kiss on his cheek and do the same to Etta before heading upstairs. After breakfast, I quickly take a shower and once I am dry I put on my dark blue knitted pullover sweater with the words 'Naughty and Nice' written in white letters, I also put on a pair of black leggings, and to top off my outfit I put on my new pair of black heels with an ankle strap.

After I am happy with my outfit for the day I curl my hair and do my makeup and right as I get done I hear the sound of my phone go off, and the screen says 'Beast',"Hello." I say as a smile comes to my face just hear the sound of his voice, "I am outside, do you want to come in and get you or are you going to meet me out here." I already think of the conversation I had with my dad already this morning, "I will meet you out there in a few seconds." I hang up and put my phone in my purse along with everything else I am going to need, before leaving my bedroom and heading downstairs.

Right as I make into the kitchen my dad who is cleaning up the kitchen stops me by saying, "There is a 2019 Cadillac xt4 worth over 30 thousand dollars sitting in my driveway." I smile and now you know where I get my love for cars from, "Yes there is, and I am headed out." My dad slings the rag in his hand over his shoulder, "I am assuming from the luxury car and from the Cheshire Cat like grin on your face that Nick is outside." I nod my head and open the front door,"Trust me?" I ask while my dad gives me that look that he only gives me because I am his daughter and he doesn't want anything to happen to me,

"Trust you, but the next time this Nick comes here I am meeting him." I let out a breath and roll my eyes, "Done deal dad." I say walking out of the house and into Nick's car as the two of us head off to Shark Reef Aquarium. Nick and I enter the aquarium and start looking at all the cool exhibits that they have as we enter the large open area called 'Shipwreck' "By the way my dad wants to me meet you next time you come by." Nick runs his hand through his hair as a nervous look comes across his face, "I guess I can handle that." Nick says smiling at me as he takes my hand in his,

"You having fun?" I nod my head with the biggest smile on my face. "Thank you for bringing me here, it is a great way to spend the day." I tug on his hand as we start walking around looking at the fish and other sea creatures. Out of the blue Nick lightly tugs on my hand getting my attention away from the fish and over to him, "I know it very last minute, but my family is having their annual Christmas party tonight, and I was wondering if you would like to accompany me?" I look at Nick sort of impressed at the clever yet impulsive way he chooses to ask me,

What kind of party is it?" I ask as people walk around Nick and I, "It is a black-tie kind of party, and normally I ditch it and hang out with my friends,but my father is requesting my presence, and I haven't exactly told them about Nikki yet." I light hit Nick in his shoulder, "How haven't you told your parents yet that you are going to be a dad." Nick gives me a look telling not to go there and I completely understand, "I guess one evening of the true fancy life wouldn't hurt me." Nick's face lights up and the biggest grin I have ever seen on him before comes across his lips,

"I will try to make sure that you don't have a terrible and boring time." I incline my head to him turning my attention back to the fish when Nick comes up next to me and lightly intertwines our fingers, and I don't know if Nick finally starting to open up to me a little bit, maybe it is the romantic setting of the aquarium, but whatever the reason for the first time instead of fighting the feelings I have for Nick I instead embrace them. "You really proving to be a human Rubik's cube." I say lightly giggling and I pull on Nick hand leading him over to best and my favorite part of the aquarium which is the tunnel.
