ˢᵉˡᵉⁿᵃ ʳᵒˡˡᵉᵈ ʰᵉʳ ᵉʸᵉˢ. "what the hell are you guy doing here? especially in the same room." she mumbled the last word. selenas parents had a ugly divorce when she was 13 and her sister was 23. (five years before her and chris met.) her mother looked to her father and spoke, "we heard what happened and decided to come see how you were doing and see if we could do anything." she said. selena crossed her arms and rubbed her eyes, "ok. come here." she smiled opening up and arms and letting them both hug her. it felt good to have them around, she didn't seem so alone.
"want me to bring you guys over?" selena asked her parents and they nodded before going to selena's house. she walked through the connecting gate, her and dylan had put in about six years ago due to security risks and comfort. she opened up her door to reveal a full house still, pictures of her and chris decked the walls once again. the sunlight reflecting off of her neutral home- giving her some comfort once again. "here are the guest rooms." selena motioned as they finished walking up the stairs. she made her way further to her bedroom and laid on her bed. taking in the plushness and familarity it held. michelle (selena's mom) laid down besides her and brushed her fingers through her daughters hair. selena smiled and turned over to face her mom, slowly closing her eyes.
michelle left a short while after selena fell asleep and found mark reading his book on the couch. "you still reading that thing?" she questioned her ex husband reading tom sawyer, a limited edition copy she gave to her then husband right before selena was born. "if you happen to know, i quite enjoy the book." he said continuing to read. "quite a lot of other things you enjoy too." she mumbled referencing the affair he had with a woman 25 years younger than him. "listen michelle, don't get started with me." he warned shutting his book and standing up to make coffee. he did not know how long selena would be asleep and wanted to be there when she woke. "oh please, you did that yourself. remember?" michelle fought back, bringing up the past to make a point. the door made a few thuds during this epic battle once again. mark gave his ex wife a look, before opening the back door. there stood the one and only jasmine gomez. jasmine smiled widely, "daddy!" she said wrapping her arms around her dad and breathed in the comfort. "now what were we just fighting about this time?" already knowing the answer.
"just the time your father cheated." michelle said with no shits given. mark sighed, rolling his eyes. "oh please, like you never wanted to." he fought back.
"what the fuck is wrong with you people? im trying to sleep." selena walking into the kitchen rubbing her eyes. she didnt realize jasmine at the breakfast counter as she poured herself some expresso. "like seariously, don't tell me were fighting about this again." she knew they were bringing up old history. michelle licked her lips, waiting for mark to answer. "were here to see you sweetie, not bring up old things." michelle eyed mark. mark, drinking his expresso too. "exactly." jasmine added causing selena to stop drinking mid drinking and coughed some liquid up. she slowly looked up to see her older sister, whom apparently hated her guts and looked between her parents.
"mom? dad? who let her in." she said looking between them. michelle sipped her drink, raising her eye brow. "really dad-" "don't really dad, dont blame him. i came here to see how you were doing. he merely was positioned nearest the door, i could of walked in ya know." jasmine stated non chalantly drinking her coffee creamer coffee.
selena downed her drink, and went upstairs once again. pissed off even more and slammed her door.
"just like old times." mark commented to the two and went upstairs to check on his youngest. "go away, dad." selena called out as he knocked. "selena please." he pleaded. he heard the door unlock, and opened up to his sad little girl. tears flowed out of her eyes as he wrapped his arms around her. "everything is going to be ok." he comforted. "it just doesnt feel like it." she complained walking back into her bedroom. he shut the door, and followed her. "it doesn't yet, but it will be." he reassured. "please, like your the one to talk." she blew back and he nodded.
"im not. but remember when you broke up with your boyfriend right before you met chris?" he asked. "try not to think about it." she sniffled. nick jonas. how he broke her teenage heart. it was right after her 18th birthday, they went to central park and he broke up with her in public.
luckily her father was performing on broadway at the time and she rushed over to his manhattan apartment and healed her broken heart. the day before she had met the love of her life. something, she didn't expect to happen. mark dropped his daughter off at the airport and the rest was history.
"everything was alright then? everything is going to be ok. you didn't expect to meet chris and yet you did. when you least expect it, it's going to surprise you." he smiled. sniffling she nodded, "i guess." she said hugging her dad. "you have your mothers heart, something i always took for granted.", he kissed her forehead and walked back downstairs and past jasmine who was heading up. "be nice." he warned and she nodded. "ofcourse." she responded before walking through selena's door.
"no, leave now." selena demanded. jasmine didn't budge and left.

selena paced around as she typed on her phone, unsure if she should send this text or not.
"hey." jasmine spoke unsurely. selena stopped mid step and looked up to her sister giving her a soft smile.
locking her phone, selena responded with "what do you want?". "to talk to you." she responded moving towards her baby sister slowly.
"why? when you know how i feel about you?" she said moving out of jasmines way for her to sit on her bed.
"as much as much as you hate me, i knew you needed me." she responded, knowing damn well selena knew it. selena looked down and sat on her bed.
"you know i really hate you right?" she asked and jasmine responded with a laugh.
mark and michelle listened closely by the stairs, unsure of how the conversation would end. they smiled at one another as the two sisters began to speak civilly. "probably would be best if we took some tips." mark commented, michelle rolling her eyes in response.
