One day before Valentine's day.

I couldn't help but take glances at Alyssa as she furrowed her eyebrows, focusing on the task at hand. Alyssa was smart and took less time than me in finishing homework. I didn't consider myself stupid, but I certainly considered what we learn in school is useless.

"Do you want a drink?" I asked her, trying to get her to take a break. She just simply nodded and didn't say what she wanted, so I just got some f/d (favourite drink) for both of us.

I handed her the drink and she took it with a shaky hand. It was shaking a lot at one point, that she would have almost spilled the drink, if I didn't catch it at the last minute. She thanked me as I put the drink on the table.

During the tiny breaks, we just made an awkward conversation. We had only known each other for about four months, she was shy in general, so it was hard to keep a conversation. However, she was patient and one of the most loyal and nicest people I had ever met (besides the Losers club).

Despite the teacher's efforts to help by assigning Alyssa to tutor me, I still didn't really understand math. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't Alyssa's fault, but it's like my mind agreed with my whole soul to not understand math on purpose. I really was trying hard to understand it, but it just didn't come too easily. Math isn't meant for me, it never was.

Jesus, did I just get over-dramatic over math? Welp, I wonder for how many chapters this'll continue. While this fourth wall break exists - I'm not Y/N, I'm actually Batman. Fourth wall break in a fourth wall break? That's like....sixteen walls!

"Hey, who are you talking to?" Alyssa asked me and I shook my head to snap out of it.

"No one...just the audience." I mumbled.

"..." I received no reply from Alyssa, just an odd look.

Valentine's day.

"Hey, N/N!" I heard Richie call out to me as I was opening my locker.

"Oh, hi, Rich-" I replied, but got sidetracked when a piece of paper fell out of my locker.

"Ohoho, someone's got a crush on you?" Richie asked, picking up the paper.

"Give it back, señor! Me angy!" I crossed my arms and pouted, pretending to be angry.

"I love you for a life time
Not only for a day
I love you for who you are,
not what you do or say!" Richie over-exaggerated his hand movements and voice tones, while reading what was written on the piece of paper.

"Poetry? Are you sure it's for me?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"Pretty sure. It says for Y/N, 9th grade, Derry public school-"

"Is it really that detailed?" I asked, snatching the note from him. Turns out, it was really that detailed. Although, it didn't say from who it was or why.

"Well, uh...that's...fucking weird. Who would even send me a Valentine's day card?" I asked, trying to remember anyone who showed even slight interest in me.

"I-I mean you're pre- pretty amazing. Who wouldn't send a Valentine's day card to you?" Richie fixed his glasses.

"Thanks, I'll write you one too!" I said, taking my stuff from the locker, locking it and walking off to my first lesson.
