44: Deployed

Cara stared at the picture of her older brothers. She hasn't seen either of them in nearly 14 months. Karl was deployed over in Japan. While Albert was in Afghanistan.

" Cara?" Sky walked into her room. Cara glanced up from the picture in her hands.

" Right here." She smiled. He sat next to her, looking at the picture.

" Are those your brothers?" He asked.

" Karl and Albert." She nodded.

" They look like you." He stated.

" I look like them." She corrected lightly.

" You miss them." He didn't need to ask, he knew.

" A lot." She nodded

" Cara!" JoJo called as she jogged down the hall.

" What's up?" Cara asked.

" Bexley sent me to find you. Girl's night tonight?"

" Oh, I am so in!" Cara nodded.

" What are we thinking? Shopping? Movies?" Cara linked arms with her friend.

" I think she said something about bowling?" JoJo replied.

" Bowling? Without the boys?" Cara knit her eyebrows.

" I don't know." JoJo shrugged, biting back a smile. Cara got the feeling she wasn't being told everything but, chose to ignore it.

" Hey Cara!" Josh shouted from the stage.

" Hi Josh!" Cara shouted from the pit, setting up her music.

" You ready for the show?" He called. He was abnormally energetic.

" You betcha!" Cara called back. Bexley jogged onto the stage.

" Hi Cara!" She yelled, grabbing Josh's hand.

" Bye Cara!" She yelled, pulling her husband off stage.

" Bye?" Cara watched them go.

" Hey Cara!" Sky grinned as she walked down the hall. There was 20 minutes until places.

" Hey liebling." She smiled as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

" You ready?" He smirked.

" Yeah. You?" She smiled up at him.

" Yes." He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips.

" Hmm, you're unusually affectionate. What'd you do?" She cocked an eyebrow at him.

" Are you saying you're not enjoying this?" He pressed a kiss to her forehead.

" No, I am," She nodded," But, you still are acting guilty."

" Nothing illegal." He chuckled.

" I'll take that for now." She nodded.

" I need to go. Break a leg but, don't actually break a leg." She called as she ran towards the pit.

" Same to you!"

The cast made their bows as the audience cheered. Joey jogged forward, silencing the crowd. Sky stood next to him.

" Hey guys! So, I'm gonna call someone onstage!" Joey said.

" Miss Cara Bachman!" He shouted. Cara couldn't completely see them but, she carefully put her violin away as her fellow instrumentalists ushered her onto the stage. Sky met her by the stairs, wrapping his arm around her waist. In all the confusion, Cara didn't see Ben and JoJo race down the opposite stage stairs.
