My family and the police are out there looking for him. Recent discovery. Jade was taken too. It's been weeks. Months even. The school has even put out emails. I was searching the streets all last night. I found nothing. His brother couldn't track his iphone. I'm having nightmares. Nightmares about him. Where could he have been taken? Why was he taken? In every dream I see him chained to a wall. I don't speak. I'm too scared too. He's beaten and bloody. His tears are red. So is his blood. Candy red blood. I'm want to reach out to him. But I can't. I never can. Jade is never visible. I lost my own sister. How could that happen?

Today, Sollux told me to take a day off. I don't want to, but he said that today more and more police forces are investigating. I'm sitting on my bed. Restless. Exhausted. Scared. My phone dings. I jump. It's a message from... John?

JE: Hey :B my dad asked me to clean out the basement. But it's way too crowded. Can you help me. 

JE: ...

JE: I'm sorry about what happened. I'm sorry that I treated you like that. Do you wanna still be friends?

DS: hey dude... I'll help you clean the basement. It's my day off of searching. 

JE: we still bros?

DS: yeah man. We can still be bros.

JE: yay! Alright! I suggest you come over soon because my dad is getting more and more pissed with me.

DS: ight be there soon.

I exit the chat. This might be a good distraction from Karkat and Jade's disappearance. I change into a clean set of clothes before I head out. I've been to John's house before. He was my boyfriend after all. When I get to his house he's waiting outside. 

"Hey Dave." John waves. I wave back. He opens the door and lets me in. When I walk in I see John's dad sitting on the couch talking to a troll. A tall troll. Very muscular, black hair, nubby looking horns, cuts and scars. John's dad nods to me.

"Alright the basement is down here!" John has a door open with stairs that lead down. 

The basement is actually crowded. We begin cleaning. There are doors and crawl spaces everywhere. It's all a maze.

"Penis." Jade says playfully.

"PENIS." I challenge louder.

"Penis!" 

"PENIS! WE'RE GONNA GET IN SO MUCH TROUBLE." Jade and I giggle to ourselves.

"Penis!! No one can hold us in here and stand our recklessness!" Jade says.

"PENIS!!"

"Penis!!!"

"PENIS!!!"

"Penisssss!!!!" A loud kick hits the door. John is angry.

"What's that noise?" I ask.

"Oh I had some friends over and they recorded them saying 'penis'. It keeps getting louder. That's why my dad wants me to clean up. So I can turn it off. I'll go turn it off now that I can get to it." John laughs nervously and closes the door behind him. I walk over to the door and listen.

John's coming. Jade and I shut up. He grabs something from the wall. We shift in our chains. John has a knife. I should've been quiet. I could've broken out. He's mad. More than he ever has been. 

"I told you to shut up!!" John whisper yells.

"Penis." Jade teases. John turns and kicks her in the face. She freezes before falling to the floor. My eyes turn cold. Ice cold.

"Dave is here. Don't ruin this for m-."

"SOS MOTHER FUCKERS!!" I shout. The door creaks open.

"John? Everything okay down there?" Holy shit I thought John was joking. Dave is here. He's actually here. I pull to the ends of my chains.

"DAVE? DAVE. HOLY FUCKING SHIT." Dave steps into the concrete block.

"Karkat?" A tear streams down my face. Dave almost collapses to his knees. He runs over to me.

"This can't be real. You're alive. You're here." He cups my face in his hands. His worried expression changes. He turns to John.

"John. Why? Why would you do this..?" Dave says. John looks defeated. I tall troll enters th-. D-Dad..? 

"He took you from me..." John says. My dad walks up and hits Dave. He collapses on me.

"DAVE. DAVE! YOU GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE." I hold up Dave. He stands up.

"Karkat I'm not gonna leave you here."  My dad attacks him again. Dave dodges.

"DAVE JUST TAKE JADE!! LEAVE ME. PLEASE." Dave manages to land a hit on my dad. That hit happens to be the bulge. My dad falls to his knees then onto the floor.

"That's out of the question." Dave grabs John and knees him in the stomach. Jesus no fucking mercy. This is interesting to watch yet, makes Dave look oddly charming. Whatever. I pull on my chains. They don't budge. Ugh. I give up and grab Jade I shake her chains. Stuck on tight. A hard force grabs my leg. My dads hand. He pulls on it and the chain snaps. What is he-?

"Karkat give me your hands." He gives me a sympathetic smile. He grabs my arms and yanks the chain off. Why is he helping me? 

"DAD WHY ARE YOU..?!" He pulls my other leg off the chain. 

"I'm sorry Karkat. Now get out of here. I'll handle John and get Jade out." My dad crawls over to Jade's body and tugs on her arms and legs. The chains break. I grab Jade and hug my Dad. He awkwardly pats my back.

"Go on. Live your life to the fullest." I nod. I grab Dave as well and start running. 

"Karkat we're just gonna leave those guys there?!" I keep running out of the house.

"MY DAD'S GOT IT HANDLED. C'MON. WE HAVE TO GO." We make it down a few blocks and into my house. 

"Okay I'm the one who's supposed to be helping you." I pause and turn to Dave.

"FINE. SWEEP ME OFF MY FEET KNIGHT IN SHITTY ASS ARMOR." 

"Will do." Dave hangs Jade over his shoulder and literally sweeps me off my feet. He picks me up bridal style. He carries Jade and I to his moms house instead. When we enter Dave's mom is in the kitchen. She drops a plate.

"O-Ohh my god. You found them..." She runs over. 

"Here David let me help you." She lifts Jade off his shoulder. 

"Lets take them to the living room. I'll get Rose to call off the police search."  Dave and his mom bring us into the living room. Dave sets me on a couch. Jade wakes up immediately.

"Woah what the-!" Jade rolls off her mom and to her feet. She jumps giddily 

"We're freeee!!" Jade spins around but slows down.

"Wait Karkat! You're hurt! We need to get Rose to heal you!!" She hugs me tightly. I cough blood from the pressure. She lets me go. 

"Karkat. Can I see your arm?"  I freeze. My arm. The cut. The blood. Shit. I hold my arm tightly to my chest. Dave notices this.

"Babe..."
