Being with my dad was fun. Awesome at most.
We spent every minute of each passing hour talking about the times I missed at home.
I filled him in on university and how I have one friend.
And that's my roommate.

We were on our way out when my phone went off.
CONTINOUSLY.

"Who's that?" Dad asked.

"I don't know. Lemme check."

I took my phone out and saw atleast 24 missed calls and 30 messages.
All from one person.
Cameron.
I can't believe he's serious.
Dad looked down at me and raised a brow.

"It's my roommate." I lied.

Dad certainly didn't looked convinced. But he went along anyway.

"You want me to drop you off?" He asked me.

I was going to say yes when i remembered Cameron.

"No it's fine. I'm meeting Alice at the mall."

Dad nodded his head and hugged me.  He placed a soft kiss on my forehead and walked towards his car.

"See you at home in a month." I shouted at him.

Dad looked back and laughed. He blew a kiss at me, got in his car and drove away.

"Your dad drives a Ferrari?"

I spun around ready to connect me fist with a jaw. I hate being frightened.
But as fast as I was Cameron was much faster. He caught my fist and pulled me closer to him.

"I loathe you." They just slipped right out my mouth.

Cameron looked at me and laughed.
He gestured for us to walk towards his car.
He's as stupid as his car.
Fun fact the car is one of the latest BMW.
The sleek kind. Very unique.

How would I know that. Because of my dad.
He's a car living maniac.
He knows the latest cars, the oldest cars, the modern cars. In retrospect he's a car God.

The car ride with Cameron back to the dorms was quiet.
Real quiet.
I think he was waiting on me to talk but I really didn't feel like talking.
Until he spoke and started an argument.

"You didn't leave the restaurant 4:30." His eyes still on the road.

"Are you being for real?" I asked him.

"Do I sound like I'm joking."

"Cameron, you are one big douche. You have no right to order me around. You are not my boyfriend and certainly not my friend."

He went silent. He parked the car in the school parking lot and didn't move. I didn't wait for a second before getting out the car and ran towards my dorm.

Brave move there Khelani.
What can I say, I'm an expert at running away. Learned from the best. The woman who called herself my mother.

Today was a Saturday. It was 6:30 in the evening.

When I got to my dorm room.
I was face to face with someone I thought i would never see again.

I should've just stayed in the car.

                                    *****

I got to my dorm room. Very much out of breath.
I looked back. No Cameron.
Yes! I'm free.

Oh how you wish it was so.

I rolled my eyes and opened the door.

Looking up I saw my her sitting on my bed.

"Hello Khelani. Can we talk?"

I looked over at Alice. She muttered a I'm sorry and went into the bathroom.

The figure on my bed looked at me. Waiting for me to respond.

"Hello mother." Was all I could say.

My perfect day just went south.

All thanks to Elaine.
My mother.
