A quick heads up!
This chapter is longer than usual... I had to, I'm sorry lol. It feels like nothing happens in 2000 words, buuut maybe that says more about my writing than anything else lol

Anyway, enjoy!

-Cara-

After Miriam and Orla had named the girl, and the men had been away for a long while, Cara was led outside and to the back of the house.

Cara immediately shielded her eyes from the direct sunlight when they stepped outside. The light was sharp and hurt her eyes from being inside for so long. Tears filled her eyes and she tries her best to blink them away without looking it looking like she was crying. However, her eyes quickly adjusted themselves and she could study the surroundings near the family's house.

"Ah, yes... it is noon so the sun is at its highest." Miriam spoke soft words to her. "I can't believe you slept through the day yesterday... Whatever happened to you must have been terrible..." she continued and got sad look in her eyes.

Cara shot her a nervous smile before turning her eyes to the summer day spreading around her.

The house was located on the side of a dry dirt road which had tall grass growing on its sides. Opposite to the house laid a field.

Wildflowers in different colors grew in small patches in the field's tall grass, with colors of deep cornflower blue, buttercup yellow and poppy red. It looked like the most perfect rural painting you could ever think of; a blue sky with only a handful of small clouds, the grass on the sides of the road the most vibrant color of green that only summer could produce, and finally the dirt road slithering further to a hill and then down it.

Cara studied the flowers and their vibrant colors playing together in the green grass. It made her forget the nightmare she was currently stuck in. Be it for only a couple of seconds but she felt like she could breathe in and out without fear for the first time since she had woken up in Keegan's arms.

The memory of him carrying her here, until she fell asleep, crossed her mind. For some very strange reason she felt safe around him... and she wasn't sure why.

Miriam walked slowly next to Cara, letting her take in their surroundings  without rushing her. The woman smiled contently as Cara's eyes flew over every new thing they could find.

When Cara had taken in everything in front of the house they walked around its corners until they came to the back of it.

It was a nice and warm day. Birds were chirping all around them in the birches that stood in wild growing twos and threes close to the house.

Soft green grass spread out underneath their feet. The long branches of the birch trees hung heavy with green little leaves and they almost looked like soft strands of hair.

It felt like Cara had stepped into a summer dream which she never wanted to exit. It was by far one of the most beautiful days she had ever seen, of those she could remember, which wasn't many. The only ones she could recollect were mere flashes of moments, not whole impressions and images.

After their short walk, Miriam stopped Cara softly.

Cara directed her gaze from the trees to a large round wooden tub in front of them. It was placed about a meter from the house and it was surrounded by mud on the ground. As if they used to bathe in it and the grass had gradually disappeared and turned into a muddy mess where they stepped in and out of the tub.

Cara turned to Miriam with a puzzled look on her face. There was a soft smile on the woman's lips, as there often was, even though Cara had barely known her for about a day or two.
