Alessandro and I talked for a while which distracted me from my screaming hunger.

Luckily the door slowly opened.

I silently hoped it was the last guest because I knew if I had to wait any longer I wouldn't be able to stop myself from eating.

"Sorry, I'm late." I instantly glared at the person who entered.

"Ryan, It's no problem dear. Take a seat so we can start dinner," My mother said with a smile while doing her best to avoid my glare.

Ryan immediately made his way over to me as he wore his best smile.

"Hello, Natalia." He greeted me, I only frowned when he took a seat beside me.

I felt anger burning in my chest at the simple sight of him, but hearing him speak brought burning rage.

I never thought it was possible to hate someone this much.

"Are-" He started making my frown deeper.

"Shut the fuck up," I said which instantly had him closing his mouth and I had to admit that was the best decision he made tonight.

I turned my attention back to Alessandro who looked seconds away from laughing at my response.

I only smiled as a few maids entered the room some with wine in their hands, others with carts of extra food.

I had lost my appetite for the food since I was surrounded by people I despised with my entire being.

Besides my brother of course.

"You aren't going to eat?" Alessandro inquired, I could detect a hint of care in his voice which didn't surprise me because this man was everything I never expected him to be.

"I lost my appetite," I told him while taking a sip of the wine that I noticed was mixed with tequila which didn't shock me since the staff had been doing this since I turned 18.

It was a special request by me so they got used to it.

"Why am I not surprised that you would resort to alcohol?" He said with a smile.

"It calms my nerves."

"What or should I say who has gotten on your nerves? I have a few guesses of my own." I looked at him knowing better than to tell him anything since I had yet to know if I could trust him.

"Can't I drink without a reason?"

"No, you can't."

"You barely know me," I stated with a slight smile, he shrugged never breaking eye contact.

"I may not know you very well, but I'm very observant. I notice far more things about you than you realize." He informed me.

"Please enlighten me about your recent discoveries."

"Well...You don't like to talk to people, but you hate to be alone. From my observations, someone broke your trust and they also broke you." I looked up from my wine glass when he said this.

"And by the way, you're looking at me right now. I'd say I'm right." I cleared my throat trying to regain control.

"How can you be so sure?"

"The reason you drink is to forget, but it never works does it?" I decided not to answer him which allowed him to continue.

"You hate to be vulnerable, so you put up a tough act because you're scared to be hurt again. How are my discoveries?" I was about to speak up even though I truly didn't know what to say.
