Broken Promises

I bounced my leg up and down as I sat in the chair at the airport. I looked around and saw Aria asleep with her head laying on Spencer's shoulder, and Hanna was sitting across from me, looking up at me every two minutes when she's not on her phone.

"Here you go babe." Emily said as she sat next to me and handed me a coffee with a breakfast sandwich. I smiled at her as I took the food and drink from her.

"Thank you baby." I said as I leaned over and kissed her cheek. She smiled and opened the wrapping to her sandwich.

"You're welcome. Eat..." She said as she nodded her head to my food. I unwrapped my sandwich and took a bite out of it.

"Promise that we'll stay in touch." I heard Emily whisper as I had my head on her shoulder. I raised up and looked at her.

"I promise." I said as I raised my hands to her cheeks. I noticed she had a worried expression on her face and leaned over and kissed her. "Nothing is going to tear us apart, not even a little distance. Remember what you told me?" She nodded her head and leaned her forehead against mine.

"We can do this." She mumbled out before she hugged me. Eventually I felt her body shake a little before I realized she started crying. "I'm going to miss you so much." I sighed.

"I'm going to miss you too baby." I whispered out as I hugged her tighter. My heart broke as I heard her sniffles.

Hearing her cry made me wish I had taken her up on her offer a few nights ago.

*Flashback*

I felt the bed dip before Emily laid behind me and wrapped her arm around my waist. Over the past few weeks, she's been spending almost every night here, but I'm not complaining. I was brought back to the present time by her kissing my neck a few times before she interlocked our fingers. I turned my attention back to the movie that was playing. After a few minutes she talked.

"What if we got our place now?" At first I thought I didn't hear her correctly so I let go of her hand and turned to face her.

"What baby?" She swallowed before she spoke again.

" What if we get our place now instead of waiting until after senior year?" I thought about it. I must have been quiet for awhile because she started to talk again.

"Think about it, if we get one now, you don't have to go to California and we could just..." I stopped her by putting my hand up to her cheek and caressing it.

"I know you don't want me to leave and trust me, I don't want to leave you either. But if we just up and get a place now, that would be us running away from what we're facing." She broke eye contact with me for a few seconds before she looked at me and said the words that were in my mind.

"And Fields' don't run." I smiled a small smile at her before I kissed her.

" I know I'm going to be a Fields' one day, so I'm not running away from this. We can get through this year Em. Isn't that what you told me?" She nodded her head and pulled me against her and hugged me. After a few minutes she pulled away and kissed my cheek before smiling at me. Then her eyes lit up.

"What?" She got off of the bed and walked over to her bag and pulled out something. When she straightened up she held it behind her back before walking over to me.

"I brought you something."

"I told you not to spend any more money. We're supposed to be getting a place in a year, remember?"

" I have plenty of money for that, besides you're gonna need this in Cali." She then brought the gift around and handed it to me and laid next to me while I unwrapped it.

"Em..." I couldn't get words out as I looked down at the MacBook Pro. I heard her laugh a little before I felt a kiss on my cheek.

"It has everything on there. I know how you like to edit sometime to clear your head and now you can. Also we can FaceTime. That's the real reason I brought it..." I stopped her by kissing her. She smiled against my lips before pulling away. She picked up the Laptop and placed it on my nightstand before turning off the light.

*Present Time*

"What are you thinking about babe?" She asked against my ear

"Thinking about a few nights ago." She smiled a sad smile before she quickly kissed my lips and pulled back.

"Fields' don't run." I rolled my eyes when she repeated what I said. I moved my hands up to her face and lightly scratched down her cheeks.

"Only a year."

"Who knows, maybe your dad can finish early and you can come back earlier." I smiled.

" That's a possibility." I said smiling. She laughed a little and kissed my cheek.

"Now boarding, Pennsylvania to California!" All of us stood up when we heard the announcement over the speaker. I was pulled away from Emily into a hug with Spencer. Then all of the girls hugged me. I grabbed Emily's hand and squeezed it before kissing her.

"You better not fall in love with anyone else while I'm gone."

" I won't. I promise."

" I love you." I said as tears clouded my eyes.

" I love you too." She said as she grabbed my face and placed kisses all over until I smiled. She then pulled me into a hug that I wished would have lasted forever.
