Kabanata 03

Ever since that day, I always got chocolates on my desk.

"What's this?" I asked my other blockmate when I saw another chocolate bar on my desk.

Saad niya tsaka umalis.

"Hindi ka pa ba nasanay, Icehelle? Halos araw-araw meron kang tsokolate sa lamesa." My other blockmate giggled.

I nodded before putting the chocolate I was holding into my bag, then I simply followed her lead as she walked away.

"Icehelle, ano yung hawak mo kanina?"

"Just some chocolate bar." I answered.

She tsked, "Na naman?

"What the?" She unbelievably looked at me, "Titignan ko lang!" Makulit niyang sabi.

"Yes, I know... But–" I paused for a second, "For now, can you let me have this, for once?" I stated politely.

Ever since they found out about the chocolates, they've been snatching them from me, never letting me taste even a bit.

Now, she looked pissed. "Icehelle, just because someone's giving you chocolates every day doesn't make you special. Remember how your own father treated you?" She chuckled mockingly before walking away.

I was not even shocked by her actions.

"Wait," suddenly, I found myself gripping her wrist, feeling a surge of anger at her words. "And what right do you have to say that?"

She scoffed, "Bakit?

Feeling a mix of frustration and hurt, I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain my composure. As she walked away, her words echoed in my mind, haunting me with their cruelty. But deep down, I knew there was more to the story than she was letting on.

I sighed before resting my arms on the balcony, looking at the students walking by. I saw groups of friends laughing together, which made me feel a little envious.

No one else ever seemed to feel like an outsider. But why does it feel so unfair when it comes to me?

Why is it so hard to find a friend?
