"Today's the day!" It was Bella's 18th birthday and Alice had taken it upon herself to throw a party at the Cullen residence. It had taken her only a week to gather decorations, a cake, and to hound every single member of the family to have their birthday gifts ready.

Cordelia was munching down a bowl of cereal as her sister checked off a list of things she had to do or already got done. Alice's energy was compelling Cordelia to go back to asleep, she missed being able to sleep in but summer was gone and the new school year was in.

Cordelia hadn't been able to really sleep in anyway, over the summer she took a multitude of classes so she could graduate this school year as a senior alongside Jasper, Edward, Alice, and Bella. It was Cordelia's first last year of high school and she preferred to spend it with her siblings even though she had numerous more in store.

Bella was doing well after the Phoenix/James incident. She clung to Edward like a puppy dog, and he clung to her just as much. Although Cordelia sensed some sort of change in her brother. Bella spent a lot of time at the Cullen residence now and nobody aside from Rosalie seemed to really mind. While she was here, Edward was the newfound in love version of himself.

But when she was gone, he went back to who he was before her. Frozen. Lifeless. Cordelia didn't push her brother though, if he wanted to talk he would.

"Bella doesn't seem the type to even like surprise parties or gifts." Alice scowled at Cordelia's remark, "you better not say anything about the gifts!" She had that look in her eyes, Alice was small but she was scary. "I wasn't going to say anything in the first place!"

Emmett and Jasper came down, Jasper gave Cordelia a displeased look. "You've got no time to eat Cordelia Grace." "One more bowl Jazz?"

He frowned, "make it quick."

"You spoil her Jasper." Cordelia started eating quickly as her brothers conversed. Jasper raised his eyebrows, a challenging aura coming off him, "says the guy who drives across town everyday to Cordelia's favorite pizza shop, buys her food, and then manages to drop it off in time for lunch." Cordelia scoffed and got up from her seat, "I appreciate the both of you very much." She placed her bowl in the sink and kissed Emmett's cheek, "thanks for always buying me lunch Em."

"I just don't want you to put that crappy human cafeteria food in your body, can't do you no good."

Jasper frowned. He hadn't thought of that point and Emmett had him beat. She gave her brother a smile before wrapping him in a quick hug. "Gotta go before Alice attemps to kill me, see ya later, love ya." Emmett patted her back, "love you too."

Jasper had already grabbed Cordelia's bag so she made her way into the garage and into the back seat of the jeep.

"Wrap this for me and don't rush on tying the bow." A roll of dark wrapping paper came flying towards Cordelia, "this is some fancy wrapping paper you've got here." "Rose picked it up at a craft store." She began to wrap the box nicely and tied the bow around it which made the gift look nicer and elegant as well. It screamed Alice all over it. "You haven't asked if I bought Bella a gift yet, you've already seen what it is haven't you?"

Cordelia watched Alice smile, "she's going to love it."

She huffed, "thanks."

They arrived before the bell rang and Alice skipped into the school with the gift in hand and ready to find Bella. Jasper and Cordelia lost her for a second before finding her with Bella and Edward. Jasper kept his distance and so Cordelia hung back with him.

"You're getting better at being around her." "I suppose," his attention was on the pale girl ahead of him whose emotions he was clearly influencing. Alice must've told her about the party. Cordelia tried many times before to be able to get into Bella's mind but there was this block that was far too unbreakable. It didn't drive her as crazy as it did Edward though.
