It had been a few weeks now since Cordelia, Jacob, and Bella began to rebuild old bikes.

Cordelia and Jacob got along well and even developed a strange but close bond that she secretly hoped would become more. She didn't act on it though or mention it to Bella. She was set on not coming between Jacob and Bella, even if it killed her. Bella seemed to be getting relief and distraction of Edward whenever they were with Jake which was often, so that was good and that was all that mattered. Cordelia was there to take care of Bella, not to fall in love with some possibly werewolf boy.

Her nightmares sadly were still around.

Cordelia hadn't spoken to her family in a while but was sending them messages here and there. She explained she was busy with Jacob and Bella and Jasper had made a joke along the lines of, 'don't forget about us.'

As if. She didn't want to think of that terrifying thought as she was sat in the truck in between Bella and Jacob. They were driving to Jake's per usual, the wind from the open windows was blowing through Cordelia's hair. The coolness and suddenness about it provided an excellent distraction to her because she was trying not to gush over the gorgeous boy next to her.

"Isn't that Sam Uley?" Something about the name brought awareness to her.

Sam Uley ..

He was the guy who had found Bella in the woods the day she went missing according to Charlie. There was still something else about his name that she couldn't remember. Jacob was staring out the lowered window of Bella's truck bitterly, "and his cult."

His cult?

Then it clicked.

Sam Uley was a shapeshifter. Carlisle had mentioned that to Cordelia when she started heading on the reservation more. What Jacob referred to as his cult must be the pack of wolves. When the Cullens had arrived back into Forks they believed the shapeshifter gene had died down throughout time, but they had been wrong.

"Oh my god! Stop them!" Bella's eyes widened as two boys begin to shove another boy off the cliff they were standing on and into the water below them. She slammed the breaks and ran out the truck, Jacob followed and Cordelia stayed where she was but scooted forward to the window to hear her friends talk. "They're not really fighting Bella, they're cliff diving." Jacob was laughing as he watched the boys fool around, "what? On purpose?" "Scary as hell but a total rush."

All three of them watched as one of the boys dived into the air and then into the water. Jacob was learning against the truck now with his shoulder near Cordelia's face. She could feel the amount of warmth radiating off him which made her want to rest her head there and just think. Cordelia frowned at that thought. Is this what having a crush was like? Thinking about them 24/7 even if you don't mean to? Having a crush was difficult work and she wasn't happy about it but one look over at Jacob's sculpted face and she was back in.

Bad thoughts, she told herself. There is no room for you and Jacob Black.

"Most of us jump from lower down." Bella was clearly intrigued by this which alarmed Cordelia, this girl had a death wish that would kill them both. "Think I could?" Jacob turned to Cordelia and found her surprisingly close but didn't flinch, instead he moved closer and she didn't know how to act, could her irregular heart beat even faster? She cursed her luck. The one boy she wanted this close and she couldn't have him. Hell.

His shoulder was now definitely near her cheek. He raised his eyebrows at her and motioned his head to Bella which made Cordelia shrug, "she's insane." It was a simple sentence but it got the point across. Cordelia feared if she tried to say more she'd just burst into song and dance, declaring her feelings for Jacob Black.
