After I left the room I looked around the floor I was on a bit, identifying where all the other girls where staying and where the boys wing was. Farkle came out of the hallway just as I happened to walk past "where you going?" He asked, walking with me

"I dunno just looking" I replied, shrugging my shoulders as we headed down the steps. Riley sat looking out a bay window, a small smile grew on her face once she saw Farkle approach her. I decided to let them be, my eyes trailing around the rest of the lodge before hearing the crackling of a fire

I decide to head toward it, figuring it could be better then doing nothing. however, I stopped in my tracks once I saw a boy sitting there. He wore denim jeans with a matching denim jacket, he looked like some 80's teen heartthrob and it made me laugh to myself.

He wasn't from the school, I figured he was just another guest who chose a poor time to stay here considering 100 or so kids have just arrived. I approached him slowly, his head was down watching his boots on the floor

"I know it's like a million degrees but is it cool if I sit?" I ask quietly, gesturing to the spot beside him. He looked at me startled for a few moments before a small smile appeared on his face. He nodded, patting the spot beside him as if I was a dog

"I'm not a dog" I say, screwing my face up however still sitting beside him then "what are you then?" He asked, his head now facing me "what?" I reply confused. He chuckled "what's your name" he clarified his question. I made a 'ohhh' face once I understood "Maya, you?" I ask

"I'm Lucas" he replied. I bit down on my lip as hard as I could, however I couldn't help myself "I'm Lucas ma'am" I mocked, a heavy southern accent laced through my words. He looked at me amused "better now?" He laughed making me nod in agreement

"So..you part of the school trip?" He asked, turning back to the lodge dotted with students. I nodded half embarrassed to be on some kindergarten field trip "unfortunately" I replied quietly "so how old does that make you?" He asked again

"I'm seventeen..turn eighteen next month" I replied confidently, mentally patting myself on the back for being one of the oldest in the year group. His face fell slightly, but only for a few moments before I asked him for his age. "..I'm 21.." he replied

My eyes widened from shock "o-oh wow" I stutter, he nods slowly. "So what's a 21 year old doing at the lodge?" I ask curiously "my university offers for students to work here for extra credit so be and a few mates are working to babysit you kiddies" he replied, a smirk laid across his face

"Hey I may be younger then you but I'm not a kid" I defend. Nothing in this world pisses me off more then when someone tells me in a kid or refers to me as a child. I find myself not getting angry at this boy, however just waiting for him to ask me more questions

"Why are you over here with me?" He questioned, squinting his eyes as if he was trying to figure me out "full of questions, aren't you?" I reply, us both chuckling. "I mean because your whole class is over there and there's other seats so why sit with me?" He stated, his eyes meeting mine again

I shrugged "I don't like any of them. Sitting with you is better then sitting alone" I reply simply, my eyes staying on him. "Maya! Ma- oh there you are! I was looking for you" Riley's high pitched voice called from the bay window, walking over to me

"oh god" I sigh barely above a whisper "and who might you be? I'm Riley" she seductively smirked, sticking her hand out in his face "lucas" he replied plainly, shaking her hand for a few short seconds

"I haven't seen you before? Do you go to our school?" She questioned, wedging herself between Lucas and I. I stood up abruptly, turning around and leaving without even saying anything to them. She's got a boyfriend and she still needs to hit on Lucas?!
