"L-lucas?" The blonde mumbled as her eyes fluttered open in the white hospital room "I'm here" he stood up instantly, attaching himself to the side of her bed. She looked at him with a weak smile "where is everyone?" She asked quietly

"Riley's next door with Farkle and Mr Matthews. Zay and Isadora are sitting in the waiting room" he informed her. Maya nodded slowly, still slowly recovering from being asleep "are they okay?" She continued

Lucas nodded, "they're all okay, Farkle got oxygen but he was fine after half an hour or so. When you got Riley out they went with her, she got treated for smoke inhalation just like you however hers seemed to be worse because she was in there longer" he explained

"Your lucky no one had gotten burnt from the flames..very lucky" Lucas added. She gave him another week smile, crumbling weakly as tears filled her eyes "not everyone" she mumbled. Maya attempted to sit herself up in the bed, with help from Lucas she was able to do so

She pulled the hospital covers off her body, showing Lucas the bandages they had wrapped around her calf from burns "I was with you after you fell, and in the ambulance no one said anything about burns" he shook his head in denial

"Jeans must keep heat in or something..I was too scared to feel it when I got to the floor" she explained. Lucas sat back in his chair beside the bed silently for a few moments, his eyes gazing over the gauze and bandages that secured burns on her leg

"Does it hurt?" He asked, tears pricking at the back of his eyes. She shook her head no "not really, they must've put me on something..it's not that bad" Maya replied, looking at the burn. In theory, it wasn't too bad, only a small burn on the back on her calf, but to Lucas it was everything.

"I'm sorry I went in there" she spoke up after a few minutes of quietness between them "you did a good thi-" the Texan began to respond before she cut him off "No! Yes..It would've killed me if Riley didn't get out of that fire but I left you a-and I didn't want to hurt you" she cried softly.

He reattached himself back to her side while she continued "it was just in the moment..when I turned back to look at you and you looked so worried..the whole time I was in the building I wanted to get out, I almost contemplated turning around after I got Riley out and going back through the house..lucky I didn't because if I did I would've di-" maya added before being cut off by Lucas this time

"Don't say it" he silenced her, not wanting to hear what could've happened to her "I tried to go after you, Zay and the college boys tackled me to the ground" he smiled, looking back at memory and feeling bad for finding it the slightest bit funny

Maya chuckled "of course you did, because that's who you are. If you don't try run into a burning building for them, do you even care?" She smiled, Lucas did too. "You know how bad I care for you..it amazes me how a girl I met last week is the last thing on my mind before I fall asleep and the first thing on it when I wake up, I've grown so fond of you so quickly that it kind of scares me" he replied

Maya felt another warm, melting sensation throughout her "I like that. I like you" she chuckled. Lucas leant down, kissing the blondes lightly blushed face for a few seconds before letting her go. She bit down on her lip "lie with me?" she asked him, scooting over in the bed to one side.

Lucas did as she asked, sitting down beside her and wrapping his arm over her shoulder "I never want to let you out of my sight" he confessed sweetly.
