"The buildings coming down! You've got to move" a manly voice demanded from behind us. Lucas helped me over to where our friends previously stood, "L-Lucas" I stuttered before falling through his arms, my body loosing consciousness

3rd person -

"Help!" Lucas called as his blonde beauty fell to the ground, nurses rushed to her aid "she has too much smoke in her lungs we have to get her to hospital" the nurses spoke to each other "I can't leave her" he stated, following them.

The nurses gave each other a look, before turning back to Lucas, a sympathetic smile on their face "fine" one of them said, allowing Lucas to get in the ambulance. They closed the doors and the sirens blared through the night as they drive away

Mr Matthews and Farkle were only a few minutes ahead of them with Riley in the ambulance. "She needs oxygen" the nurse stated, drawing Lucas' attention back to the girl in front of him "her throat is swelling up..we can't put it down her throat" the other responded, grabbing the nose tube and putting it on Maya

Lucas zoned out as he watched them intensely take care of the almost lifeless girl in front of him for what felt like ages before they finally pulled up to the hospital. Getting out of the ambulance, Lucas rushed with them by Mayas side "you have to stay here sir" A nurse informed him, stopping him from entering the next unit

"I will get you when you can see her again..sit here" she added, pushing Lucas down to a chair. He sat uneasy, the thought of the previous hour replaying in his mind, how he almost lost the girl he had fallen in love with after only knowing her for a week, how she ran into a burning building to save her friend before the firefighters could. How she could've died.

"..Lucas..Lucas.." Zay waved his hand in front of his childhood friends face, drawing him from his gaze on the door that maya had left through "huh what" he furrowed his eyebrows "have some water" Zay I demanded, Holding a bottle of water in front of his friends face

"Fuck your water" Lucas mumbled annoyed. Zay sighed, sitting beside him with Isadora "have you heard anything yet?" He questioned to which Lucas shook his head No. "she'll be alright man" he failed to comfort his friend

"Sir, you can visit your girlfriend now" the nurse came into the waiting room about an hour later. Lucas stood up instantly, jogging over to the nurse "she's asleep..let her wake up on her own" she advised as they walked down a long hallway to a room "she's in here" the nurse smiled before leaving

A man sitting just behind him to the left caught his eye "do you want to see her first?" Lucas asked Mr Matthews who sat watching the room Riley was in. He looked up to Lucas, a small smile on his face "no you go" he directed

"Is she gonna be okay?" The blonde Texan asked Riley's father. He nodded thankfully "yea, she's fine she's just in there talking to Farkle" he replied. Lucas nodded, opening up the door to Mayas room, closing it behind him.

He made his way to the side of her bed, she lay peacefully, a oxygen mask over her face and her heart beating steadily. He smiled at the thought of her being okay, sitting down lightly on the bed and holding her hand

He stroked his thumb over the soft skin, her long black acrylic nails tickled his hand without trying, making him smile. He sat for a few more minutes, his eyes returning to the beautiful girl in front of him before moving off from beside her and sitting in the chair next to the bed while she slept peacefully.
