The rain continued to pour as the students all got back to the lodge safely, after about 15 minutes of no new students arriving Mr Matthews took the roll "Jack is here..Farkle is here..Sam is here..Maya is..isn't here?" He questioned, looking up to tick the people off

He furrowed his eyebrows before looking to Riley "where's maya?" He asked his daughter. Riley shrugged, a worried look on her face "she went on the walk but she hasn't come back yet" she panicked "and she went alone" Isadora added

"Sir, one of ours isn't here too" Harry, a college student spoke, a heavy British accent dripping from his words "who?" Mr Matthews questioned the boy. "His names Lucas, Lucas Friar" he replied. Harry was the head of the college students, the one assigned to be the leader

"If Maya is with Lucas then she's safe, Lucas will look after her" Another college student, Josh spoke up "are you sure?" Isadora questioned "100%, lucas won't let anything bad happen to her" Zay backed josh confidently.

Moments passed until 2 very wet, cold people opened up the door and entered the warm lodge "Maya!" Riley and Isadora squealed, rushing over to their best friends side "what happened?" They questioned, looking to her appearance

"We tried to wait out the storm but I fell over so we had to come back" maya replied innocently, gesturing between her and Lucas "see I told you she would be okay if Lucas had her" Josh smirked, patting Lucas' back

Lucas bit down on his lip to hide a smile that wanted to appear on his face "she cut her hands we should clean them up" he recovered, holding Mayas hand up to show Mr Matthews. He nodded, Maya and Lucas following him through the lodge to the first aid room

"So they were together the whole time?" Zay smirked to Isadora, a girl he had been loosely watching the whole trip "I guess so..she's seventeen though" she defended her friend quickly. Zays smile faltered a little bit "that's not too bad, once she turns eighteen they'll be okay..how old are you?" He questioned Isadora

"I'm eighteen already, one of the oldest" she smiled to the older boy who nodded slowly. "I'm Isadora" she introduced herself properly, sticking out her hand for the boy in front of her "Zay" he shook her hand kindly.

Back over with Lucas and Maya, Mr Matthews left him to do the first aid because her had done a course before he got to the lodge, a first aid course. Maya sat on the bench of the darkly lit room, one light on the ceiling flickered at people from the floor above walked over it

"This might sting" Lucas warned the blonde, dabbing an antiseptic cloth over the grazes on the palms of her hand. Maya bit the inside of her cheek until she felt blood, her eyes squeezed shut to stop herself from punching something

The blonde boy in front of her noticed her pain, hurrying up his process he wiped antiseptic cream over before bandaging up her hands with plasters "it's done, it's done" he said relieved, allowing the girl to open her eyes and let out a deep breath

"I'm a big baby when it comes to pain" she admitted, embarrassed to Lucas. He chuckled softly "you did very well, do you want a lollipop?" He questioned, holding up a small glass jar of lollipops. Mayas eyes met the jar "I'll have a red one please" she stated, her eyes flashing with a bit of happiness

Lucas stared at the jar of red lollipops blankly "ghee I'm gonna have to dig all the way to the bottom" he stated sarcastically earning a laugh from the girl "Ah there's that laugh" he smiled, handing her one of the lollipops

She unwrapped it, putting the raspberry candy in her mouth as she watched Lucas clean up around them "can we stay here for a minute" Maya asked, looking around the room they had been left alone in "..sure.." Lucas replied confused, taking a seat beside her and looking around the dull room with no windows

"Thank you for taking care of me through that" she confessed sweetly, taking the lollipop out of her mouth and twirling it between her fingers.
