Chapter 12

Nirvana

I groggily wake up the next morning and immediately reach for my phone to check the time. I groan when I realize that it's only 6:00. I have an annoying habit of waking up at unprecedented hours of the morning, and usually find it hard to go back to sleep after that.

When I nuzzle my head into my pillow in an attempt to go back to bed, I hear Daniel talking in his sleep.

"Sarah don't leave me. " He mutters. Who the heck is Sarah? "Don't leave me. Remember what happened at the lake?" He mumbles and a sleepy smile crosses his face. He groans in pleasure. "Ohh... Sarah." His voice gets husky. " I loved it when you touched me- " I pick up my shoe from the floor and throw it at his head before I hear something that will scar me for life.

He immediately jumps up in pain and looks at me in bewilderment. "What was that for!"

"You were talking in your sleep." I answer back calmly.

"So you had to throw a shoe at my head!"

"Yeah you were saying gross things."

Like what?"

"Like moaning oh Sarah over and over again." Maybe my eyes are deceiving me but I detect a red tinge to Daniels cheek. He's embarrassed. I laugh and keep on going with it. "Who's Sarah?" I ask playfully.

"An old girlfriend."

"What happened at the lake and where do you love it when she touches yo- "

"Okay too many questions." He interrupts and turns over in his bed. "I'm going back to bed. Try not to hit me with your shoe. Yeah?"

"I will if you starting moaning Sarah again." He shoots me a death glare before closing his eyes. I laugh at his discomfort. Soon after I heard his familiar snoring. I sigh knowing that Daniel ruined my chances of going back to sleep again. All the sleep is wiped out of me. I decide to get up and brush my teeth instead.

On my way to the bathroom I hear a rustle in the foyer. I stop dead in my tracks. What was that? I dismiss it as my imagination and continue to the bathroom when I hear it again. Ugh it's probably a roach, I think in disgust. I quickly head to the bathroom to grab the roach spray, that Daniel conveniently brought the other day and creep to where I heard the noise.

But when I get there I realize it's not a roach but a man curled up in a fetal position by our door sleeping, I think my mind is playing tricks on me considering its early in the morning and my brain is probably still fuddled. I rub my eyes to wipe the sleep out of them but he's still there. Hmmm... maybe I'm dreaming I begin to wonder.

It seems much more logical than a man sleeping at our door. I pinch myself. He's still there. I deliver a hard slap to my cheek but he's still there. "Wake up, wake up wake up!" I yell at myself. The man stirs in his sleep. Immediately a feeling of dread washes over me.This isn't a dream. It's real.

I let out an ear piercing scream and he wakes up startled. In a panic I press down on the nozzle of the roach spray can that I realized I was still holding and spray him with it hoping it'll have the same affect as pepper spray and I can subdue him somehow.

He shields his face with his hand. "Stop s'il vous plaît!" He sputters. " Je peux expliquer!"

I ignore his cry for help and continue to spray him. He starts to stand up, so I throw the can full force at his head and run to the bedroom screaming blood murder. In my panic I jump on Daniel. He gets up fast startled and in the process knocks our heads together. I'm so scared I don't even feel the pain.
