Pearl × Human Reader

Y/n's POV

     After a lot of begging between Steven and I, the gems finially let me go on a mission with them. Amethyst was excited along with Steven and I. Pearl told me to not leave her sight at all. I nodded as Steven and I got onto the warp pad. It looked so cool as we warped to our destination. On our mission we would be finding the corrupted gems and bubbling them. I had no way of protecting myself but I could still help. For some reason, I could calm down some of the corrupted gems. I could calm them down enough for the gems to poof and bubble them. So far it has always worked. Watch this be the time that it didn't. We walked off the warp and were surrounded by trees. We kept walking until we heard what sounded like a corrupted gem. Pearl grabbed my hand and looked ahead. She does this to make sure I'm with her and protected. She has done this many times before, and every time I start to blush. Steven smirked at me. Him and Connie are the only ones that knows I have a crush on Pearl.

     We all watched as a corrupted gem walked out in front of us. It was sniffing the ground and looked up at us. Pearl pushed me behind her defensively. I could no longer see due to her being a lot taller than me. A whole foot to be exact. I peaked from behind her only to see the gem charging at us. It hurt me to see gems like that. They had no control over what they were doing.

     "Stay back Y/n." Pearl yelled as she charged after the gem. I stepped back to a tree as I continued to watch the gems fight the gem. I'm not allowed to interfere unless told to or I felt like I needed to. I leaned up a against the tree only to jump at the sound of another corrupted gem behind me. The gems didn't hear it but I did. I turned around to see another one approaching. It looked like it was about to charge. I decided that I needed to calm this one down to help the gems.

     "Hey buddy. Look at me. You're okay. You can control this. Just stay right there." I said stepping out in front of the gem. It stopped what it was doing and looked at me. It didn't do anything. I walked closer to it with my hands out. "I'm not a threat to you. Will you allow me to touch you?" The gem put it's head onto my hand. I smiled at it. This one was the easiest one I have ever had to calm down. Most of them try to charge me after I put my hands out. I heard the gems poof the corrupted gem behind me.

     "Y/n! Where did you go?" I heard Pearl yell.

     "I calmed one. Please come slowly. I don't feel like having it charge at you guys and have it step all over me." I said kinda laughing. I looked back to see them approaching. The corrupted gem started to growl. "Shh shh, you're okay. They are here to help you." I petted it's head as I talked to it.

     "She befriends everything just like Steven." Amethyst said laughing. I signaled Garnet to go behind it.

     "I'm going to step away from you now. Stay right there." I said walking slowly, backwards, away from the gem. It watched me as I walked away just as I wanted it to. Garnet then jumped up and poofed the gem. I continued to walk backwards a few steps until I tripped over a rock. I braced myself for impact but it never came.

     "Please be more careful Y/n I- we don't want you to get hurt." Pearl said holding me in her arms. I smiled as I stood back up.

     "Thank you." I said smiling at Pearl. She blushed as I did.

     "You're welcome. Please next time tell us you found another corrupted gem. You scared me disappearing like that." Pearl said grabbing my hand as we all continued to walk.

     "I only took a few steps into the woods to the gem. Plus you guys were already busy with one. If I need help I promise to call for you Pearl." I said gripping her hand a bit more to reassure her. "Would that make you feel better?"
