Valentines Day

Azalea Hogwarts walked arm-in-arm with Harry Potter beneath the vague glistening of chilled sunshine that beat down on them during that crisp February morning. It was Azaleas first Valentines day in the modern world, of course Harry would not have known that but he was delighted to see the bright smile on her face that morning as she marvelled over the brilliant red roses he had given to her.

The pair of them had agreed to spend the day together, too often their days together were interrupted by their friends but they wouldn't have it any other way. And as the chill of the wind caused Azaleas cheeks to blossom a gentle red, she was completely content with spending the day shopping aimlessly in Hogsmead village. It was preferable to a traditional date which the pair of them had mutually agreed, was utterly unlike them.

Every day, Harry grew angered by the distancing measures Dumbledore had put in place and although he was never explicitly say it- not since the first time- he was jealous of Azalea who vanished once a week to have a meeting with 'Uncle Albus', meetings which she couldn't tell Harry about. As much as the Boy-Who-Lived trusted his new girlfriend, he couldn't help but wonder many things about the mysterious brunette. Because, even after months together, he barely knew anything about her, he did not even know her parents names.

And Azalea knew that Harry was becoming more and more anxious for news, from wherever it may come. And she and Dumbledore had agreed on that matter, eventually, some time soon, she would have to tell him the truth and hope that he would be accepting of it. Slowly, information would be given to him.

"Azalea?"

"Harry" she returned, smiling up at him as they explored the village together slowly. They weren't in any form of rush now as they visited the shops.

"Tell me more about yourself?" It was the question Harry asked her nearly every day, and one she would eventually have to answer. Because without answers, Harry would just unconsciously grow to not trust her.

"Harry, there are many things you do not know about me. Things that I wish I could tell you... and I will... eventually" that was when he cut her off, turning to face her as he dropped her arm from his hold.

"Then tell me. Why won't you just tell me?"

"Because it's not safe Harry. It's not safe for you or I if you know, if anyone knows." She stressed and he couldn't help but just stare at her with a frown, clueless.

"I'm not like you and the others Harry... I don't have the trace on me. I was trained to fight, to protect. That's all I can tell you."

"You're... a weapon?" He frowned, shaking his head, trying to understand but without the entire story, it was difficult.

"Harry... I'm a shield. Not a weapon" she sighed, glancing down to where their hands were now joined, basking in the gentle sting of his grip that she had grown so brilliantly accustomed to.

"And... you can just... do magic? Outside of school?" He frowned, shaking his head and Azalea merely shrugged.

"The ministry don't know about me." She sighed and glanced down.

"At all?"

"At all." She confirmed with a small smile. "They don't know that I exist" she shrugged.

"What would happen?... if they found out?" He wondered, linking his arm with hers once more to continue walking.

"I imagine they would want to keep me under lock and key" she laughed softly to herself, considering it.

"What else is there? That you cannot tell me?" He questioned.

"There's a reason why I cannot tell you Harry" she smiled softly, continuing forward. "Can we not just enjoy the day? Together?"

"Oh, yeah. Yeah of course" he smiled. "I'm sorry"

"It doesn't matter Harry" she beamed, pushing forward to stand on her tiptoes, pressing a soft kiss to his lips, relishing in the feeling of his mouth on hers as his arms moved to circle around her waist, holding her softly against him in the shimmering sun.

"Let's have a good day" he chuckled and pulled her forward once more. "... why are you wearing gloves?" He laughed at her. "Are you cold?"

"Oh, no. Habit I guess" she smiled but truthfully, it was because just as his hand had been scarred by Umbridge's quills, Azaleas had been also and she intended to keep that secret for as long as possible, at least until she could tell him the entire truth. "I must not tell lies" would be scarred on their left hands now forever.

"Morning, lovebirds" a familiar voice beamed, Fred or George pushing their way in between the pair and slinging an arm over each of their shoulders. And the other twin emerged on Azaleas other side with a beam. "How are you on this day of love and happiness?"

"Brilliant thank you" Azalea smiled sweetly.

"Merlin, you are precious" the other twin beamed down at her, pinching her cheeks teasingly. "We have our Skiving snack boxes up and ready for usage, in case the pair of you feel like breaking a few rules" he went on to say, wiggling an eyebrow.

"When's the next DA meeting Harry?" The other changed the subject.

"Three days." He decided and Azalea smiled. The defence against the dark arts classes that Harry was running was one of the only sources of joy in their miserable lives now.
