He was standing there.
It'd only been a few days, but for some reason it felt like longer. He looked fine too.
Healthy.
Wearing a long sleeve shirt that hid his arms, but he didn't move with precaution.
That meant they weren't hurting too much right? He was okay.
That made you feel happier than before.
Like seeing him okay had lifted a weight off your shoulders, allowed for a sigh when you'd been holding your breath. And for the life of you, you couldn't figure out why.
"What the hell are you doing here!?" Bakugo hung off the last step of his stairs like a mad man, eyes wide and nostrils flaring. He even pointed as if an intruder was standing in his kitchen.
"Uh," You, just as wide eyed, sort of just blinked at him for a few moments.
After looking back and forth between him and his mother you now understood why she reminded you so much someone you knew earlier. "bags and walking and uh," you held up two cans from the bag you'd dropped. "Chili."
Your one word explanations did not help.
Bakugo just blinked back.
"Heh?"
"Katsuki!" His mother was quick to your rescue, throwing some unidentifiable object at Bakugo's head. "Don't be so rude!"
"Ow! Stop that!"
"So," Mitsuki put her hands on her hips and looked back between her son's fuming head and your still unmoving frame behind the counter. "I take it you two know each other?"
"Yeah." Bakugo grumbled, rubbing his sore spot. "She sits behind me in class."
Under hooded eyes, he stared you down in a wordless way.
One that said, you shouldn't be here. all too loudly. You took a single step back.
His mom must've missed that because, "Aw, so you two are friends? How excellent!" She grabbed Bakugo around the shoulders with a single arm and shook him a bit with excitement. At least it distracted him from you for a second as he growled at his mother. "Katsuki show her around the house while I get dinner started, would you?"
"HEH!? She's staying!?"
"Of course she is!" Mitsuki walked back down to the kitchen and ruffled your hair.
No one but Shoto's mom had ever done that.
You looked up at her.
It felt kind of nice.
Kind of motherly.
When she stopped and smiled, you almost forgot where you were standing."What was your name again dear?" She asked, "Y/N Todoroki?"
"That's not her actual last name." Bakugo was quick to interrupt her, as if he didn't like the sound of your name along with Todoroki's. But you took that as he didn't like your name at all. "And stop talking to her! I don't need my classmates knowing I live with a crazy old lady."
Finally putting the cans down and wiping yourself off, you walked over to the bottom of the stairs where he stood.
The moment you got close enough, you tried sensing him.
His blood pressure based on the flow of certain minerals in his veins.
His temperature.
His heart rate.
His inflammation. After about 2 seconds, nothing seemed wrong except the very large frown he was giving you from standing so close. He knew your tricks after all.
Pulling your head back, you gave a fake smile followed by a relieved sort of sigh.
So he's really okay. You thought, before starting to walk up the stairs without his lead.
"You coming?"
