I finally finished putting my groceries away. I walked over to my couch as I allowed myself to fall onto it. It felt soft under my figure. I let out a stretch as I huffed slightly. It's been a very long weekend. Ever since I left V I wanted to do nothing but keep myself busy. It was difficult to go outside because my mind would just fall back to that dream. It was hard to pull myself from the thought at times but I couldn't let that stop me.
I turned the television on just to have some background noise. I felt myself getting comfortable as I turned my head to look over to the rose that sat on my coffee table. Looking at it renewed the shocked feeling I had when I first saw it in my bag when I got home. I reached my arm out as I gently touched the petals. I trailed my fingers down to the tied note on the stem. 'You're always welcome to come back home, my dear. -V' The way he signed his name made my heart skip a beat. It was so pretty.
'Breaking News; Three more people have been found dead by the river. The three bodies were found this morning. Amy Well, Quinton Weld and Thom-' I changed the channel. Why did I leave the news channel on? What was up with the amount of deaths that have been happening? I've only heard about them since the moment I sat down Thursday evening to watch Sherlock Holmes. I shook my head as I drifted my eyes back to the rose.
I kinda missed V. I knew I wouldn't be able to face him, now though. It was better if I just stayed away. I didn't want to worry about losing him at some point. Or something happening to him. I yawned as I had the note in my hand. My eyes started to feel heavy as I kept my eyes on the note. I yawned again as I turned onto my side, curling into myself as I decided to allow my eyes to rest for a little bit.
"My darling. You're back." I blinked, confused. It had taken me a second to realize where I was. I knew that voice from anywhere though. It was V. "I've awaited your return for a while now. Do you like what I've done to the place?" I was confused. We were in a cemetery. I got chills. Was it cold? "V, where are we? This doesn't look like your home." He chuckled as I tried to find where his voice was coming from. I looked around before noticing a figure standing a few feet away from me. "Come, darling. I want to show you something."
He held his leather glove out as I hesitated for a second. Why were we in a cemetery? What happened? I thought I was at home? I shook the thought, and walked towards him. Once I got to him I placed my hand onto his. His glove was cold. "Now, my dear I know this was a bit much but I hope you've been enjoying your gift." Gift? I stayed quiet as we walked. It was a bit before we stopped. "Look, my darling."
I looked down to the graves in front of me. There were at least ten of them in a row. Each with one rose at the head of the tombstone. "V, these are just tombstones." He chuckled for a moment. "Take a closer look, my dear." I kneeled down as I looked at the name of the three I stood in front of. Thomas Weld was the first one. The one in the middle had the name of Quinton Weld. The one on the end read Amy Weld. "I'm confused, V. What is this?" He held his hand out to help me stand. "Do you not remember Thomas?"
It took me a moment of silence before I recognized the name. "Thomas Weld was my ex back when I first moved into my apartment. He lived two doors down from me...I remember the night we broke up. A week after he got back from his vacation in Florida he told me about this girl he met. He told me they had several rendezvouses and he felt more for her than he ever did me. It hurt, but I moved on. However I don't understand what this is. Are they dead? How did they die?"
"My darling, continue down the row. Please. Look at the names." I walked past the three as I looked to the rest of them. Rose Opal, Ryan Roche, Ed Smith, Ian Hause. I was brought to a stop at the last three. As if to be on cue it had started to rain. I looked to the names as I felt myself freeze over. My parents and my sibling. I stood in confusion, I looked over to V as he started to step over to me. "My dear, you have no idea what great things I've been doing for you." I tried to understand what happened.
