Chapter One: Getting the Hell Out

***AN: Translations will be in the comments***

Graduation day. The day I finally get out of the hell hole that is school. My best friend Tyler unfortunately couldn't make it to my graduation because he is preparing for the draft that is in three weeks. Tyler graduated last year but we grew up together. Tyler and I lived across the street from one another. I stuck by Tyler when everyone was pissed at him for decommitting from Wisconsin to go to the University of Kentucky, which was his best bet if he wanted to make it to the league. Which of course he wants to be in the NBA, that has always been his lifelong dream.

My dad actually went to Kentucky and was drafted in 1984, twenty-first overall by hometown team Milwaukee Bucks. He played for twenty one seasons, all of them with the Bucks. Now he works for Fox Sports Wisconsin as a basketball analyst. Dad called some of his friends at Kentucky to come see Tyler play.

Both of us are going to accomplish our dreams. Just a couple days ago I signed to Royal Gold Records. I'm actually flying to London in two days to work with an artist that I have idolized.

"Hunter Iphigenia," Mom yells from what I am going to assume is the kitchen.

"I'll be right there Mama, I'm in the middle of doing my makeup," I yell back.

I add the final touches to my makeup and get up from my chair in front of my vanity. I walk out of my room and to the kitchen. My parents and grandparents are all standing there.

Biologically they are not my grandparents, they are actually my dad's sister and her husband but I was always close to their granddaughters so I always heard Grandma and Grandpa growing up. They were always my grandparents since I could talk. Hell I have been calling their granddaughters my sisters since forever. Because I am an only child.

My mom's dad died when I was five and her step-mom died on Christmas Eve of 2015. My mom's biological mother died when my mom was three and half. As for my dad's parents, his dad died four years before I was born and his mother died two months after my mom's step mom did.

"Where's Diane?" I ask my parents.

She is my dad's older sister, anytime my parents went to a casino for their anniversary or either one of my parents' birthdays, she watched me when I was like eight. Then when I was in the eighth grade, my parents let me stay at Tyler's when they went to casinos. We could only have five tickets per student, so it was really hard to choose who of my dad's other three sisters could go.

"She isn't coming to your ceremony," Dad says to me, which completely caught me off guard.

"Why?" I ask in confusion.

"Because I'm going in her place."

I turn around to see my best friend standing there. I run and wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist.

"You lied to me, you told me you couldn't make it," I said, getting off of him.

"You really think I am going to miss my best friend's graduation," Tyler said, wrapping his arms around me.

"Honestly yes," I said looking up at him.

"Hunter Iphigenia Jameson," The principal announces my name. I walk up on the stage and accept my diploma. I look out in the crowd and immediately find my parents, my grandparents, and Tyler.

After my ceremony is over, I search through the sea of people to find my family and Tyler. My family is all the way toward the back. I find them, and hug them immediately.
