Chapter Seventeen: Grammys

"Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, where is your fiancee Tyler Herro?" One of several paps asks me.

"He's back in Miami but I am accompanied by the two most important men in my life," I say to the paparazzi and smiling when inside I'm depressed and not wanting to be here but I'm up for six awards tonight.

"How are you honoring your godfather Kobe Bryant tonight?"

I ignore the question. Even though my acrylic nails have the numbers eight and twenty-four on my ring fingers I quickly look down at my engagement ring and smile.  The three of us walk into the Staples Center which is infamously known as the house that Kobe built which it really is. Dad, Grandpa and I find our seats which is in the front row.

"And the Grammy for Best New Artist goes to..."

"Hunter Jameson," My name is announced and I nearly start to cry. I walk up on the stage and take the award from the presenter.

"I would first off like to thank my fans for the never ending amount of support I would not be here in this arena without your undying amount of support."

****

"The Grammy for album of the year goes to.."

"Hunter Jameson, critical,"They announce. Holy shit two grammys this is unbelievable. I walk up and accept the award.

"Ariana you deserve this more than I do, like seriously. When I entered the industry I never thought that I would be here. I would also like my family and my fiancee for sticking by through everything and the endless amount of support."

Performing her song First Man please welcome Hunter Jameson."

Yes I'm gonna stay with him tonight

I'll see you in the mornin'

No of course, he won't drink and drive

Can you say bye to mom for me?

Oh you'll like him, he's really kind

And he's funny like you sometimes

And I found someone I really like

Maybe for the first time

No I don't need a jacket

It's not that cold tonight

And you worry, I get it

But he's waiting outside

I swear on my heart

That he's a good man

I know you'll stay up late

Just waiting for me

You held me so tight

Now someone else can

But you were the first man that really loved me

Now you're driving to the airport

Not just me you pick up anymore

I've got eight days off coming up

And I can only come home for four

Yeah I just met his family

They're just like you and mom

He makes me really happy

I think he might be the one, oh

I swear on my heart

That he's a good man

I promise he loves me

He'd never hurt me

You held me so tight

Now someone else can

But you were the first man that really loved me

Now you're on the driveway

Faking a smile

You wish you could tell him he doesn't deserve me

So I had to stop the car and turn around

To tell you, you were the first man that really loved me

And before they open up the doors

I say I've never seen you cry before

You say "You've never looked so beautiful

You know you'll always be my little girl"

You're looking at me, while walking down the aisle

With tears in your eyes, maybe he deserves me

You don't even know how much it means to me now

That you were the first man that really loved me, that really loved me

You really love me

"The Grammy for song of the year goes to.."

"Dead, Hunter Jameson," My name is announced. I can't believe that I just won my fifth Grammy. I stand up and hug both Grandpa and Dad. It is my final nomination of the night. I walk up to the stage and know exactly who I am going to thank.

"Five awards I have absolutely no word except for this. I would like to thank my godfather, Uncle Kobe. You taught me so much, I never thought this would happen this soon.  It just hurts even more that we are in the house that you built. You and Dad taught me how hard I had to work to get what I wanted. You always said that I was destined for greatness in the industry and had Mamba mentality coursing through my veins. Rest easy Uncle Kobe, I will miss you."
