Chapter Twelve: Christmas in Wisconsin

"Hunter Iphenegenia Jameson, Saca tu trasero de aquí," Mom yells from the living room.

I just a couple days ago was told that I no longer have to use my crutches. Tyler's parents and his younger brothers flew down to Miami to spend Christmas with him. Dad and the Bucks are in Philadelphia because they play today. Mom and I are going to Dad's side of the family.

"I'm coming Mama," I yell. I put on my white Air Force Ones. I grab my phone off it's charger.

I walk to my mother's Range Rover that Dad got her for her birthday a couple weeks ago. We drive not so far to Grandma's house. I walk in the door and get bombarded by their dog Tucker. I pet the small dog.  I walk into the kitchen and start to snack on the appetizers on the table. Grandpa is standing by the counter. I hug him.

"Merry Christmas baby," Grandpa greets me.

"Merry Christmas," I say to him.

"How's Tyler?" Grandma asks me as she walks into the kitchen.

"He's doing great."

"Hunter why don't you sing that Christmas song you just came out with," Taylor says to me.

"Okay, my guitar is still here right Grandpa?" I ask him.

"Yeah it's in the corner by the small christmas tree," He says to me. I grab it and sit on the couch between my sisters. I start to strum my guitar.

Santa tell me if you're really there

Don't make me fall in love again

If he won't be here next year

Santa tell me if he really cares

'Cause I can give it all away if he won't be here next year

Feeling Christmas all around

And I'm trying to play it cool

But it's hard to focus when I see you walking around the room

Let it snow, it's blasting now

But I won't get in the mood

I'm avoiding every mistletoe until I know

It's true love that he thinks of

So next Christmas

I'm not all alone, boy

Santa, tell me if you're really there

Don't make me fall in love again if he won't be here

Next year

Santa, tell me if he really cares

'Cause I can't give it all away if he won't be here

Next year

I've been down this road before

Fell in love on Christmas night

But on New Year's Day I woke up and he wasn't by my side

Now I need someone to hold

Be my fire in the cold

But it's hard to tell if this is just a fling

Or if it's true love that he thinks of

So next Christmas

I'm not all alone, babe

Santa, tell me if you're really there

Don't make me fall in love again if he won't be here

Next year

Santa, tell me if he really cares

'Cause I can't give it all away if he won't be here

Next year

Oh, I wanna have him beside me like oh-oh-oh

On the 25th by the fire place, oh-oh-oh

But I don't want no broken heart

This year I've got to be smart

Oh, baby

If you want me, if you want me

Santa, tell me if you're really there

Don't make me fall in love again if he won't be here

Next year

Santa, tell me if he really cares

'Cause I can't give it all away if he won't be here

Next year

Santa, tell me if you're really there

Don't make me fall in love again if he won't be here

Next year

Santa, tell me if he really cares

'Cause I can't give it all away if he won't be here

Next year

I am sittin in the living room with Grandma, my cousin Michelle, and my sisters Taylor and Alli. Taylor is on the phone with Felix.

"Are you riding with me to the airport?" I ask Taylor who is flying with me down to Miami and then she's taking another flight to the Dominican to visit her boyfriend.

"Yeah," She answers.

"You fucking bitch," I hear my cousin from the basement.

A majority of my family is in the basement playing poker. My family usually has two games of poker, one in the basement where they cuss at each other and the one on the main level of the house  and it's a smaller group of us.

"Does Tyler want cupcakes for his birthday?" Grandma asks me. She makes amazing cupcakes, she uses the box cupcakes but makes her own frosting.

"Yeah he does."
