"Great goal Kate, Franch had no chance of stopping that," Tobin says coming up to wrap her arm around my shoulder now the game has finished.
"Thanks, Tobs" I reply smiling up at my friend and idol
"What time are we meeting up with your guys again," She asks me like she's not the adult here
"6 o'clock Tobs, we'll meet you at the restaurant I texted you the address for" I inform the woman who nods happily and pulls me into one last hug before heading off.
I go around a few more players like Becky and Lindsey who all say they miss seeing me around when I travelled to camps with mom.
Once everyone's been seen we head to the locker rooms to shower and clean up, on the drive back home I have my headphones in when I realise someones trying to ring me.
"Lucy? What do I owe the pleasure of this call for?" I say answering it
"Am I not allowed to ring my protegé and check how she's doing" She replies jokingly
"Of course you are, how are things over in Lyon?" I ask the older player
"Really good actually, we're playing Barca tomorrow so I'll get to see Toni which will be nice" I'm told
"Yeah that will be good, I caught up with Jodie last weekend after our game, it was really nice seeing her again," I tell her
"That's good, so when do I get to see you next?" I get asked
"When camp happens Luc, it's only in a couple of days time and I'm heading down early to meet up with the City girls" I inform the Lyon player
"Oh really? Wanting to see a certain Georgia Stanway are we?" I get asked and I let out a groan at that
"is it seriously that obvious to everyone that I get asked it every conversation I have," I ask her
"absolutely Kate, we've got to look after our two youngsters on this team," She tells me and I can practically hear the smirk over the phone
"Okay Lucy, I've got to go now, we've just pulled up home," I tell her
"No problem K, take care alright and I'll see you soon," Lucy tells me and I say my goodbyes before taking my bags inside after my three housemates
"Was that Lucy Bronze on the phone?" Ash asks me when I put my stuff down
"Yeah she wanted to check how I was doing," I tell my aunt as she passes me a shake from the fridge
"Ah I like Lucy, she's a great player and person, I remember hugging her after the world cup last year, broke my heart" Ash sighs out as we sit down on the counter together
"she actually mentioned you when I told her who I live with over here said that what you told her really helped" I inform Ash who turns to look at me in surprise
"Really? She said that?" I get asked
"She did Auntie Ash, you really were a great role model at the world cup you know," I tell her truthfully thinking about how hard it is going into a tournament knowing you're likely not to play but still being the best support you can to the people around you.
"Well I knew you were watching me from the stands, I had to set a good example," She says sending a quick wink my way and ruffling my hair
"do you think Phil will play me at these friendly?" I ask my Aunt wanting an honest opinion and I know she'll give me one
"I really think he will Kate, and I also think you'll go out there and play to the best of your ability just like you do for every match," She tells me and I smile at that before quickly wrapping my arms around her side and huffing her tightly
